OPERATIONS REVIEW
Conclusion
From most perspectives it was a momentous year. The
country situation improved beyond recognition & the
fortunes of your Company too took a turn for the
better. The focus now is clearly on growth & seeking
opportunities to expand the market overall & to
consolidate the Company's position within it. The
Company is focused on a few strategies that will help
it do just this. Manufacturing capabilities will be
expanded & judicious investments will be made to
stimulate growth across key channels.
Your Company's business in India will also grow at a
fast pace. Capacity expansion & brand building will
continue to demand shareholder resources but such
investments are a must if the full potential of the Indian
market is to be tapped. The growth potential in India is
truly astonishing & your Company must remain patient
to profit from a market that is still very much in its
infancy.
With its balance sheet now healthy, your Company will
focus on investing some resources to build profitable
businesses in two large export markets, the US & UK.
Short term results are unlikely. However, as the
experience in the Maldives has shown, a focused effort
does pay dividends in the form of a sustainable business
& it is a similar approach that is planned for the US &
UK.
Yes, the year just concluded was a good one on many
counts. However, as long as alcohol policies & taxation
do not place additional burdens on your Company, the
best is yet to come.
