Hailing from Dartmoor in Victoria, GIANTS youngster<br />
Jeremy Cameron has only just celebrated his 18th<br />
birthday a mere week from his debut in the brand new<br />
NE<strong>AFL</strong> competition. Cameron was officially the seventh<br />
player to be priority listed by the Club and is one of the<br />
younger players to line up in the GIANTS squad. We<br />
caught up to talk about his experience so far.<br />
How do you find being one of the youngest guys in<br />
the team?<br />
I don’t think it is any different for us younger guys, we all<br />
have to be leaders and stand up at the right time.<br />
Have you learnt anything from the older guys in the<br />
team?<br />
Yeah, I’m still learning heaps. I have only been playing for<br />
three years and am still learning lots of including how to<br />
prepare properly for games.<br />
It’s a big change going from a small town, Dartmoor, to a<br />
big city like Sydney. How are you finding it?<br />
THE FIRST FEW MONTHS WERE<br />
REALLY HARD BUT A LOT OF THE<br />
BOYS HAVE COME FROM DIFFERENT<br />
AREAS SO WE HAVE MADE SURE<br />
THAT WE STICK TOGETHER AND DO A<br />
LOT OF STUFF TOGETHER. ALL THE<br />
GUYS REALLY HELPED ME SETTLE<br />
IN QUITE FAST AND I AM REALLY<br />
ENJOYING IT NOW.<br />
What about your selection? Were you surprised at<br />
how sudden it happened?<br />
Yeah I was actually, I wasn’t really thinking about it<br />
much. I was just concentrating on having a good season<br />
with the North Ballarat Rebels then towards the end<br />
of the year I received a call saying that they wanted to<br />
select me in one of their priority spots. It was a massive<br />
surprise but I was really happy to receive the chance.<br />
How do you find playing for Kevin Sheedy and Mark<br />
Williams?<br />
They are really great. Their knowledge of the game is<br />
just amazing and they are always there to help.<br />
What is the main thing you hope to get out of the<br />
upcoming NE<strong>AFL</strong> season?<br />
I think the new competition will be really good for the<br />
team, it will help us work on our structures and I<br />
think we will be really competitive. Personally,<br />
I think it will give me a great chance to learn<br />
from some really experienced footballers and<br />
that will in turn help me improve my own game.<br />
