Dear friends & expats,
It is with sadness that I say, that after just 1 ½
years in Qingdao, my family is being
repatriated back to the United States. It was a
decision that we just found out about
mid-June. I will miss working with our great
staff and valued advertisers.
However, I am pleased to announce that my
replacement as Editor is Carla Vassmer. Ms.
Vassmer brings a wealth of professional
experience to Qingdao Expat Magazine. She
comes from a corporate work background
including Arthur Andersen, and has edited
and published everything from travel
brochures to local newspapers.
Carla and her family had a previous foreign
assignment in The Netherlands. She has lived
in Qingdao with her husband for almost two
years. While here, Carla has served on the
Winter Ball and Charity Committees, as well
as coordinating weekly expat lunches and
Mahjong games. Please join me in welcoming
Carla to our dedicated team of volunteers.
This July/August combo issue is jam-packed
with great articles and information about fun
things to do in Qingdao, and even around
China. So get going. Happy reading!
And as always, please
support our advertisers.
Without them, this
magazine could not be
published.
With gratitude,
Joan McCarthy
