The tree screamed and screamed but kept fighting. After much fight and destruction, the strong breeze laughed aloud and blew away. With it, it took a lot of seeds and left the tree with fewer leaves and broken branches. The tree wailed in despair. The seed lay close to the tree, hugging it really tight, more in fright than to comfort it. This is not what it thought would have happened. The seed kept hugging the tree till it continued crying. When the tree stopped crying, the seed slowly looked around. There were marks of destruction everywhere. 7
Most of its brothers and sisters were gone. Some got pushed inside the ground by the weight of the broken branches. Some got injured and broken and were dead now. Oh! It was a terrible sight. The seed was heart broken and very sad. With tears in its eyes, it asked the tree, “Mother, what was it that just happened? I do not understand.” The tree looked down at the little seed and said, “My baby, it was a strong breeze that I was fighting with a few hours ago. I am so sorry I could not do much standing here all alone. I wish the others were still here and not cut away by humans.” “Cut away? Humans? Mamma, I do not understand at all.” 8
