Welcome to the 3rd edition
of our Queensland Rail Travel
magazine Embark for 2013.
With Winter upon us our
thoughts turn north and west
to warmer climates. In this
edition you can soak up the
great deals and the sunshine in
Cairns, the Daintree and on the Great Barrier Reef.
Don’t forget to enjoy the Kuranda Scenic Railway
while you’re there. Why not spoil yourself in
Gold Class?
Our iconic train The Sunlander turned 60 on June
4th this year - and to celebrate we’re asking you
to share your favourite memory and go in the
draw to win a trip in Queenslander Class. See
page 17 for details.
We also take you way out west to the Channel
Country. Not many people go there – but it is
breathtaking. It’s truly a journey that you will
remember for the rest of your life. You may not
work for Australia Post, but you can even join the
Outback Mail Run from Quilpie.
Winter also means the Ekka in Brisbane - a
tradition that millions of Queenslanders have
enjoyed for more than a century. This year we
have special fares on the Bundaberg Tilt Train
to take you right to Exhibition station. And don’t
forget that our City network runs to Exhibition
station all day for the 10 days of Ekka.
I also urge you to read the heart-warming story
about Tammy-Jo and her Guide Dog Isaac.
Queensland Rail supports Guide Dogs Queensland
as one of our charity partners.
So sit back and enjoy Embark and your journey.
If there is anything we can do to make your trip
more comfortable, please ask one of our
friendly crew.
