$15 administrative fee, will be refunded when written notification is received<br />

at least 10 days before the activity begins. Requests received after the refund<br />

PROGRAM OVERVIEW<br />

According to the American College of Surgery,<br />

Committee on Trauma, multidisciplinary education<br />

should be ongoing in a Level 1 Trauma Center.<br />

External and internal methods of continuing<br />

education are recommended for keeping current<br />

with the practices of trauma care. Specialists<br />

involved in trauma are encouraged to participate<br />

in trauma-related continuing education activities<br />

on a regular basis. This activity will provide<br />

interdisciplinary training of professionals currently<br />

engaged in the care of injured patients.<br />

LEARNING OBJECTIVES<br />

Upon completion of this CME program, participants<br />

will be able to: 1) Discuss evidence-based concepts<br />

in the management of trauma patients, including<br />

ATLS guidelines for stabilization and definitive<br />

care of the injured patient. 2) Analyze the trauma<br />

system structure and current problems. 3) Discuss<br />

ways to utilize the LERN system and devise ways to<br />

enhance the efficacy of the LERN system through<br />

communication, involvement and cooperation.<br />

4) Discuss the application of the principles and<br />

standards of the forensic specialist as it related to<br />

trauma.<br />

TARGET AUDIENCE<br />

The target audience includes physicians, nurse<br />

practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, residents,<br />

EMS personnel, and other health care providers.<br />
