From The Principal’s Office
What a busy and exciting term it’s been! We
started with the Life Education Program, athletic
sports, school photo day in the first two weeks.
This was followed by Active After School
Community events, Zone Athletics, NAPLAN,
Education Week cross country events, winter
school sports, A.F.L. footy clinic and special
assembly performances.
Selected students also joined in the DRUMBEAT
and Lego Club program at lunchtimes and we had
the CASEA team working with a student and
parent support group each Wednesday morning.
I know that most students, families and staff are
looking forward to having a holiday break.
Hopefully all of our families can share some
quality time together while recharging their energy
levels. Keep safe and have fun!
Parent/Teacher/Student Learning Conferences.
It has been fantastic to have most families come in
for their conference on Tuesday afternoon/
evening. Teachers appreciate the interest shown
by parents to find out how their child is going as a
learner.
Parents are encouraged to contact their child’s
teacher or contact me at school any time there
may be a concern. Parents do not need to wait for
interview times.
Hi Everyone!
Chaplaincy News
We have just about made it to the end of the term. We have a fantastic teaching staff and I would
just like to say thanks for all of their hard work this term. Thanks too, to Kerry our principal, to
Ann in the office, to our aides, to our after school team and all of the parents who come in to help
across the school. We couldn’t do it without you!
Have you ever tried to learn something new? Sometimes it is so easy...other times, it takes
forever. But we need lots of opportunities to practice, patient and caring teachers and
opportunities to do fun things as well, because it’s jolly hard work learning new things!!
I have been thinking about my children’s reports and I saw this little story and it really encouraged
me to keep encouraging my children. “Keep trying, keep paddling. Something will happen, keep
paddling.”
Two frogs in the milk
This is the story of two frogs. One frog was fat and the other
skinny. One day, while searching for food, they
inadvertently jumped into a vat of milk. They couldn't get
out, as the sides were too slippery, so they were just
swimming around.
The fat frog said to the skinny frog, "Brother Frog, there's
no use paddling any longer. We're just going to drown, so
we might as well give up." The skinny frog replied, "Hold
on brother, keep paddling. Somebody will get us out." And
they continued paddling for hours.
After a while, the fat frog said, "Brother Frog, there's no
use. I'm becoming very tired now. I'm just going to stop
paddling and drown. It's Sunday and nobody's
working. We're doomed. There's no possible way
out of here." But the skinny frog said, "Keep trying.
Keep paddling. Something will happen, keep
paddling." Another couple of hours passed.
The fat frog said, "I can't go on any longer. There's
no sense in doing it because we're going to drown
anyway. What's the use?" And the fat frog stopped.
He gave up. And he drowned in the milk. But the
skinny frog kept on paddling.
Ten minutes later, the skinny frog felt something solid beneath his feet. He had churned the milk
into butter and he hopped out of the vat.
Take care everyone!
AFL Richmond Tigers Super Clinic
By Jordan D
Hi, I’m Jordan D and l am going to tell you about the AFL Richmond Tigers Super
Clinic which was on the 19/6/2012 at 1:00 to 1:40. We were going to the Drouin
football ground but it was too wet so the Richmond players split up to go to all the
schools. They arrived on a bus. Only the grade 3/4’s from 3/4B, 2/3A and 4/5A
were invited and got to see the players.
Firstly, the 4’s from 4/5A and the 3’s from 2/3A came to Ms Barson’s class to eat an
early lunch. While eating our lunch, some children looked through the window and
saw the Richmond players arrive.
Secondly, we then went to the multi-purpose room and got to asked the Richmond
players questions. Then we went outside and practised handballing and then we
had to play poison ball. We had to handball the
football at people in the circle to get them out.
Finally, we got to get autographs from the players.
We said goodbye and then we went to lunch
play.
Drouin West Primary School for the grade 3’s and 4’s. We were
sooooooooooooooooooooooooo lucky! First we asked questions in the multipurpose
room and then we went to the undercover area and practised handballing
and we played poison ball with the footballs. It was GREAT to meet AFL players.
The Richmond Players
On Tuesday the 19th of June we were lucky enough to have players from Richmond
to come to our school. First we asked questions. Then we did footy skills
outside. After that we got signatures from the players. Then they went home on the
bus.
I felt great to meet more than one famous person.
3/4’s for a football clinic.
Firstly, we were supposed to go on the bus to the Drouin
Football oval but luckily the ground was too wet so we
couldn’t go. At first we were sad but in the end we were
happy because we got to get signatures in person.
Secondly, we got question time and l built up the courage to
ask one. Then we did games such as poison ball and handballing.
When we finished we got signatures.
On Tuesday at 1:00 to 1:40, the Richmond players, Jack Riewoldt, Luke McGuane, Trent
Cochin, Kelvin Moore, Addam Maric and Nathan Foley, came to our school.
Firstly, we paid $5-00 for a bus to take
us to the Drouin Football ground. The
football ground was too wet so we had
to cancel the bus. Six of the players
came to our school.
Secondly, the Richmond players came
on a bus. We went to the multipurpose
room and asked questions
and then we went outside and played
games.
Thirdly, we got all of the players to sign
stuff for us. We got all our play time but
it was a confusing day all day.
