SO, IT’S nearly that time of
year again. Not long after
you read this, literally hundreds
of exhibitors will be arriving
at the Ricoh Arena in
Coventry, with cars and vans
packed solid with new ideas
and old favourites.
Hot on their heels will
come the visitors – in their
thousands.
Every Trade Only National
Show has its story. I believe
that this year’s will be one of
renewed hope.
Anyone masochistic
enough to have sat through
George Osborne’s Autumn
statement will be under no
illusion of the economic
mountain this country still
has to climb.
Yet this edition of PPD
alone is packed with stories
of determination, creativity,
imagination and sheer hard
work to beat the economic
odds.
You can play a part in that
revival. For the economy to
kick-start, money needs to
start flowing again.
Breaking through that
stagnation is in our own
hands, so come one, come
all to the Ricoh and invest –
in your time, in your enthusiams
and, yes, in hard cash.
Finally, I mentioned the
exhibitors and the visitors.
But no Trade Only National
Show is complete without
our Here To Help heroes.
Every year, these valiant
few briefly lay aside their day
job to help make the show
the best possible experience
for everybody.
From humble admin staff
to top management, they roll
up the sleeves of those yellow
fleeces and get stuck in.

Show dates for 2014 announced
THE dates of the 2014 Trade
Only National Show have been
confirmed by its organisers.
The Ricoh Arena in Coventry
will once again play host to the
show, which will be staged on
January 22 and 23 next year.
As usual, the bpma Annual
Awards Dinner will be held
on the middle night, the 22nd,
while the Education Day will
again be staged on the day before
the show opens, January 21.
Event Director Nigel Bailey
said: “As always, we are planning
to deliver a fantastic event
and we are already planning
further innovations and changes
to enhance the show and the
visitor and exhibitor experience.
“The bpma Annual Awards
Dinner 2014 will again be the
jewel in the crown of the industry’s
year.”
PSI and PPAI
agree link deal
TWO major industry institutions,
the Promotional
Product Association International
(PPAI) and PSI,
have announced a partnership
agreement.
The deal will see the America
and Germany-based associations
providing each others’
membership open access to
trade shows, resources and networking
opportunities.
PPAI says the partnership
with PSI, which produces Europe’s
largest trade fair for promotional
products, is a natural
extension of its offerings to
members.
The focus of the agreement is
improving access and encouraging
global outreach within the
industry.
PPAI serves members from
around the world and has
agreements and alliances with
more than 30 U.S. and international
associations.
Under the agreement, PPAI
members have been invited to
attend the PSI Show in Dusseldorf.
Likewise, PSI members were
invited to attend The PPAI Expo,
in Las Vegas.
PPAI president and CEO Paul
Bellantone told PPD: “We are
committed to providing products
and services that afford our
members the opportunity to
continually enhance their business
and relationships.

Meanwhile, as PPD went to
press, the UK was also planning a
strong presence this year’s PSI.
Last year, approximately 400
visitors from the UK came to the
event in Düsseldorf.
As well as taking in the European
scene, these visitors also ran
into a large group of suppliers
from their own country – in 2012,
37 of the 993 exhibitors came
from the UK, making the country
the fifth largest of the international
exhibitors at PSI, after Spain,
Turkey, Italy and the Netherlands.
At the time of publication, 33
exhibitors from the UK had already
registered for PSI 2013.
Demand both on the exhibitor
and the visitor side is so strong
that the trade show was featuring
a bpma Pavilion for the third time
running.
