Welcome
Our park was born in between the municipalities of Salou and Vilaseca
in 1995. It was the first theme park to open in Spain.
It was conceived to get smiles out, offer dizzying sensations, adrenaline and intense fun.
Take boys and girls, fathers, mothers, uncles and aunts, grandfathers and grandmothers,
and friends to faraway countries, to make them feel, for a day, that they were living an
intense adventure. In the beautiful islands of Polynesia, in the colourful and cheerful
Mexico, in the exotic China or in the rough and fascinating Far West. As the Park was
born by the Mediterranean, and this is our home, we always like to welcome our visitors
and friends on the shores of Mediterrània.
The Park also grows up and has been expanding over time, always trying to offer its best
for all publics. It now boasts three hotels, so families will spend their holidays at home.
With a 7-swimming pool Beach Club overlooking the sea. With three golf courses, for
relaxing, playing and getting away in a quieter fashion. Also, it is currently the home of
a convention centre allowing all kinds of professionals discuss and disseminate their
knowledge A place for enveloping work in a nice, quiet setting, open to the Mediterranean
horizon.
So, we hope that in this trip we are inviting you to take you will enjoy, play, relax and rest...
and feel completely comfortable. We will endeavour to make you feel an unforgettable
excitement so you will get back home with a suitcase full of good memories.
7
Understanding PortAventura
PortAventura was created with the aim of offering the public the illusion of a trip around the
world in just a few hours to the public. And also to let them play, have fun and smile.
PortAventura means an opportunity for you to get acquainted with the Far West, where, besides experiencing
intense sensations in the attractions, you can see the houses, food and extravagant characters. So, if you have no
chance of visiting your dreamed-of Polynesia, watch live the Polynesians actually sing and dance. So you will gain an
insight on some aspects of the Chinese culture such as their writing and architecture while enjoying the virtuosity of
a team of Chinese acrobats as well as one of the most exciting experiences by getting on the raging Dragón Khan.
Each theme area, a piece of history
In PortAventura nothing is left to chance. For the
definition of the themes, years of research and the
work of many men and women were needed in order
to weave a park where scenery, attractions and show
all have both a purpose and a reason behind them.
Behind each theme area there is a piece of history
based on a detailed research, time lining, scenery
and architecture.
Navigation and railway
Water is one of the integrating items in PortAventura.
The various theme areas are developed around seas,
rivers and lagoons. In Mediterrània, a cove and a
fishing port in front of the sea. In Polynesia, water
surrounds the various Pacific Islands and gets us
closer to the Yucatan Peninsula, in Mexico. In China
it takes the shape of the “Yang Tse” (Yellow River)
delta, and in the Far West turns into the winding
Colorado river that cuts through the Grand Canyon.
Besides, between Mediterrània and China there is
a transport service featuring typical vessels which
connects both areas for the public.
Another transportation means found in
PortAventura is the railway, which can be used for
visiting the entire park riding on legendary steam
trains that pay homage the American trains that on
1869 eventually were able to link the East and West
coasts in the United States.

8
At PortAventura you will
get out the long-forgotten
child inside you. You will live
between reality and fantasy as
you could never remember.
PortAventura’s characters
They go along with visitors, especially with the younger ones, throughout their journey. Woody, the crazy
bird and PortAventura’s mascot, both playful and loving, is always figuring out how to have fun and meet
new friends. He loves dancing and often tries to get disguised and jump into one of the Park’s live shows in
company of his beloved Winnie. Betty Boop, pretty and fussy, is always willing to allow a nice picture taken
for your memories. And, from 2008, the sweet Barrio Sésamo (Sesame Street) characters Elmo, Bert, Ernie,
the Cookie Monster, Grover and Zoe, have the mission of getting children to enjoy a good time while showing
them of fun and satisfying can “learning” be, with all capital letters.
Woody Barrio Sésamo

9
Mediterrània
You just arrived at PortAventura and Mediterrània welcomes you. The iodine smell, the
hospitality of its inhabitants and a kind landscape full of light will be with you throughout
your journey through the squares and narrow streets of a village on the Mediterranean
shore.
Meticulously designed, each building, even the flooring of the “Plaça Major”, has its own actual referents. Whoever
may have visited the Plaça Major in Vila de Prades (Baix Camp, Tarragona), will notice the resemblance of both
squares regarding floors, with rolling-stone laying by following the tradition prevailing in the Romanic period. For the
theme of the Mediterrània area original materials were sought, buildings representative of various Mediterranean
peoples were designed and professionals and craftsmen pursued the closest similarity of every detail. The hydraulic
mosaic, for instance, found at the gift shop Els Arcs and the ceiling work with dark wooden beams and polychrome
paintings resemble the Catalonian manor houses of the late 19th century under the influence of the Modernism.
The boats of the “Drassanes” were hauled from Vilanova i la Geltrú (Barcelona) and the “tartana” (clunker) of the
masía, the countryhouse, is as genuine as real, as it was donated to the park by a resident of Montbrió del Camp
(Tarragona).
When you reach the waterline you will feel as if you were in a small fishermen’s village; their houses lined-up facing
the sea, the half-moon beach, the port, the boats, and the typical Mediterranean vegetation, with aromatic plants
and, of course vines growing up in terraces, on which tops you will find the cellar where, in big casks, the best wine is
produced. La casa de Bac0 (Baco’s house) is a great temptation for losing control, where a mad inventor will make
your hair spike up should you decide to get on a wagon in Furius Baco.
Furius Baco

10
Attractions:
“Furius Baco”, loss of control taken to the
limit
The are no words for describing and feeling such
a speed sensation... unless you are a Formula 1
driver. In just 3 seconds the body undergoes an
acceleration from 0 to 85 miles per hour. Pure
adrenaline for 1000 yards across Mediterrània
passing close by vines and water.
Restaurants
If you would like to rest while having a snack or
restore your spirits with nice meal, you will find
plenty of choice for your tastes. In “El Racó de Mar”,
a beautiful restaurant situated in an old fishermen’s
house with a la carte specialties from our shores;
or in “Vinosfera” and “El Pòsit”, with a quick but
invigorating meal just in front of the sea.
Just entering the Mediterrània area you will feel
the swift force of the wagons of Furius Baco rolling
over your head. It’s a call for temptation, they are
waiting for you in the wine cellar. Hop in and have
fun.
Before leaving Mediterrània, you can jump aboard
the Catalunya and head for China, or catch the train
at Estació del Nord to travel throughout the Park,
or stroll directly to the Far West.
11
Far West
Welcome, friends. You just got to the Far West in the right moment. Today is a day of celebration.
It’s 4 July 1876 and Penitence, that Texan town inhabited by immigrants, miners, cowboys,
gambles, speculators, matrons and women of the night is celebrating the first centennial of
the Independence of the United States of America.
In the Far West you will be able to visit the centre of this battered city and the mining district of the “C.C. Sampling
& Ore Company” which explores and exploits the waters of Colorado River searching for golden nuggets.
With the occasion of this celebration, several stalls with all kinds of games of skill and chance have been installed
on open, level ground. And also a beautiful carrousel for the youngest ones. You can also try your luck with aim in
the house of the Freund brothers, who have recently opened a “Shooting Gallery”.
Main Street (Far West)
Stampida

12
Attractions:
“Stampida”, wild sensations
As it could not be otherwise in the Far West, the
attractions here are as crazy as its inhabitants. If
you are looking for intensity and feeling as if you
were in the middle of a buffalo stampede in the
Texan desert, “Stampida” will make you scream
in excitement like the roughest cowboys. If you
wish to keep feeling the power of these creatures,
try a session of bumper cars in “Wild Buffalo”. If
you want to sense the power of the Colorado River,
in the Penitence outskirts you will find the wood
sawmill “Silver River Flume”, where you will be
able to ride on a log and go down the river’s rapids,
one of PortAventura’s most popular attractions.
And for the little ones, they may also feel such
emotions commensurate to their size in the barges
of “Grand Canyon”, and in the “Buffalo Rodeo”
cars, or in “Tomahawk”, the children’s version of
“Stampida”.
Restaurants
At the “Iron Horse Hotel” and at “Emma’s House”,
you may recover your strength with their American
home cooking. Do not forget to order the ribs, those
tasty smoked pork ribs. Neither miss the authenticity
of the decor in this Victorian-style outlets, in which
even de door hinges and handles were directly
brought from the United States. In “Jeremias Food”,
you may eat a quick pizza-&-pasta meal and in
“The Steak House” self-service savour all kinds of
barbecue-cooked meats. And if you want to enjoy
a true Can-Can show, you can have a snack in the
“Saloon” while entertaining, beautiful dances raise
their legs and shake their red skirts at an impossible
pace!
Silver River Flume
We now say farewell to cactuses and dust, but if
you want a memory from Penitence you may have
your picture taken in the old stagecoach of the Ben
Halliday’s Overland with a typical costume and
taking part in a typical, genuine, Far West in the
local customs and manners.
Fort Frenzee Show
Don’t miss this horse-and-cowboy show. The siege
and robbery attempt of the Fort will be no easy
task for the three robbers that will be faced with
a sergeant in rage and his assistant. Fast-paced
action. Shootings, chases, horses, stagecoaches,
explosions and lots of humour. Nothing better
for understanding the constant assaults suffered
by towns such as Penitence in the Far West and
enjoying an hilarious comedy performed by
specialists.

13
Mexico
Recreating the Yucatan Peninsula in Southern Mexico, this area proposes you an encounter
with the ancient Maya culture after the arrival of the Spaniards in America.
In a time when the archaeological expeditions went deep into the tropical jungle and its villages in order to decipher
the Mayan writing, a set of hieroglyphs that are still being researched nowadays. A collection of “estelas” (Mayan
sculptures reproduced by Spanish artists) and an exuberant vegetation will give you company during your journey.
The Gran Pirámide Maya (Great Mayan Pyramid), a reconstruction of Chichén Itzá, holds countless surprises in
its interior as has the “Gran Pacal” (Governor of Palenque) tombstone, which is considered as the most important
funeral monument of the pre-Columbian era. The lid of the coffin is an exact reproduction of the genuine one,
discovered in the “Temple of the Inscriptions”, including its weight of 8 tons.
Attractions:
“Hurakan Condor”, a dizzying free fall
“Hurakan Condor” pay homage to a ancient rite
of the Mayan culture. Legend has it that five men,
dressed in feathers in imitation of birds, climbed to
the top of a tree in order to pray to the God of fertility,
Xipe Totec, so He would send them water for their
draught-stricken crops. While one of the danced and
played the flute and drums on the top of the trunk,
the other four men, with a rope tied to their waists
would voice their demand as they flew around the
tree. “Hurakan Condor” imitates the structure of
the tree of the “flying men”, only that you will come
down much faster than them.
For 3 seconds you will live the experience of a free
fall (95 yards falling at a peak speed of 63 miles per
hour). Although, if you want to try the heights but
without free fall involved, get on the “Tronco Pacal”
and you will begin to fly over the void, but don’t
worry, no danger involved, the great Mr. Palenque
is protecting you. Nevertheless, “La Serpiente
emplumada” (Plumed serpent) (a term used to
name the God Queztalcoatl) is a viperish, slippery
attraction: a young Mayan has captured a group
of snakes he is grabbing by the tails; their shaking
heads are the passengers’ cabins. But there is still
more: “El Diablo-Tren de la Mina” (The Mine Devil-
Train) is a devilish roller coaster running through an
abandoned silver mine, the final string of fireworks
for you visit to Mexico.
And the youngest ones can take a good stroll
throughout a small area in Mexico riding on “Los
potrillos” (The Colts) or visit the “Armadillos”.
Hurakan Condor

14
Indigenous craftwork
In all PortAventura’s theme areas
you can purchase thematic gifts and
original souvenirs from the Park and
its charming characters. In Mexico you
will find products directly made by local
craftsmen, a true reflection of their
culture and traditions: pottery, imitation
jewellery, typical costumes, hand-made
Mexican hats, tablecloths or colourful
hand-painted cheap items.
Restaurants
It is time for a meal and you may choose between the Cantina,
the Hacienda and several fast-food establishments. The Cantina
is a great self-service establishment where specialties from
Mexico and the rest of the world can be tasted. In this building
takes place the transition from the Mayan (self-service area) to
colonial Mexico of the Spaniards (dining hall), where every day
an authentic Mexican folklore performance is held, conveying
the vivacity, colour and joy of ancestral traditions. But if you
want to enjoy a beautiful, comfortable, a la carte outdoor meal,
you will find in the Hacienda the most typical products such as
fajitas, nachos or our, already classic, beef sheet.
Templo del Fuego
Hurakan Condor

15
If you want to find out
about the price to be paid
for trying to escape from the
divine powers, we invite you to
run 1,400 yards in just over
1 minute.
China
The journey begins at the delta of the legendary Yang Tse (Yellow River), coinciding with the
birth of the son of the Emperor for the Shang Dynasty (1766-1122 b.c.), so you will find some
halls decorated with commemorative flags.
At the Port of Waitan you can get a junk and sail to the old Mediterranean Sea (two of the four junks were brought from
China and the other two are precious replicas of the real ones). But, if you prefer to continue your journey through
this wide country, get deep into the agricultural town of Xaimpang, in which upper side the Emperor has settled
his Summer residence: a recreation of Beijing’s “Ciudad Prohibida” (Forbidden City). If you keep walking to the
outskirts, you will find a Mongolian camp at the borders of the Gran Muralla (Great Wall) (an exact reproduction,
both as regards of materials and size, of a stretch of the Wall located in Badaling, just 25 miles away from Beijing).
Genuine script
Yen Xuen Lin, a teacher in Chinese brush in Barcelona, took charge of the sign painting for the whole China area,
in order to ensure a faithful theme featuring. She herself, based on the type of building, created a message and
changed the scripting. At the port of Waitan messages of all kinds can be read, from official announcement to
personal requests. The messages, in order to avert bad luck are never written on a white background.
Therefore, there is no other possible impression but that of feeling deeply involved in the Asian culture and
landscapes. A bamboo forest and vegetation, perfectly made to fit the them and at the same time respectful to the
Mediterranean climate, lead us to an atmosphere plenty of surprises, exotism and authenticity.
Overview Dragón Khan

16
Attractions:
The diabolical Dragon Khan and Shambhala
This year a new legend has arrived in the China area.
It tells of Shambhala: Expedition to the Himalayas.
When you ride this new roller coaster you can touch
the sky and enjoy the sensation of being a real
mountaineer. You will soon see how Shambhala
does justice to its chimeric legend as there are very
few places where you will experience the sheer
joy you feel here. It will take all your senses to the
limit as you take to travel through the diabolical
structure resembling the shape of a dragon where
the soul of Prince Hu, who dared to challenge the
Eastern divinities, is kept captive. The Dragon Khan
is one of Europe’s biggest roller coasters. One of
PortAventura’s symbols, it features 8 vertical
loops that will enable you to reach zero gravity,
experience the corkscrew effect and feel a dizzying
fall from a height of 130 feet at a speed peaking
63 miles per hour.
If are looking for fun, but with sensations that are
not as wild, the “Cobra Imperial” (Imperial Cobra)
is waiting for you at the halls commemorating the
festivities of the birth of the Emperor’s son. There
you will also find the “Tea Cups”, that will make
you lose any sense of direction, a chance to feel
like floating without getting up from your seat and
firmly secured to the ground.
And for the youngest ones, in Mongolian territory,
the “China Children Area” has been created with
all kinds of children’s attractions (slides, flying
chairs...).
Exciting shows
As a true reflection of its gymnasts and acrobats, the
virtuosism of these artist was something that could
not be overlooked.
Delicacy and sensitivity are found in the “Temple
Magic” where the soap-bubble show “Bubblebou”
can be watched live. A scene setting plenty of plastic
and visual richness, designed by the Catalonia artist
Pep Bou. Precision, here as well, in view of the huge
fragility of soap bubbles. A show that will enchant
the whole family for its simple exquisiteness.
The youngest ones must not miss as well the “Xian
Mein and the little Panda” outdoor puppet show.
Restaurants
In the land explored by Marco Polo an establishment
paying him tribute could not be missed. That is the
“Marco Polo” buffet, where Chinese food and dishes
from all over the world are served. A meal can also be
had at the “Sichuan” self-service in the Low City of
Ximpang and all kinds of appetizers, meat and fish
from the Far East be tasted. Chinese noodles or the
delicious Sun beef are some of our flagship dishes
that will help you renew the strength you might have
lost in the midst of the fury of Dragon Khan.
Coinciding with the launch of Shambhala, you
can also enjoy the delicious foods that “Dagana
Restaurant” has to offer.
Polynesia
It’s 1779. Humidity and palm trees guide your way through narrow paths in the midst of a
maze of vegetation. You have arrived to the Polynesia discovered by sailors such as Captain
Cook, which was colonized by the Europeans and interpreted by masters such as Gauguin.
Before you, a paradise.
The nobility of the scenery
For the construction of the Polynesia area material directly brought from the Pacific Islands and cane from different
parts of Asia as well as palm leaves from Almería and Alicante were used. One curious fact is that 150 km of coconut
fibre string (from India) were used for the wooden junctions, handrails and fastening points. A professional climber
spent days and days tying one by one the knots for all huts, paths, footbridges and catwalks.
In Polynesia, realism reaches all details, even the strange sculptures you will find along the way are divinities, the
“Tikis” brought from the Islands of Fiji and Tonga.
When the air blows softy to a breeze, the rustle of the palm trees turns into fine music, in wind becomes stronger, the
sensation of strolling in the middle of the tropic increases. Besides, you will soon hear another sound: the constant
melody of waterfalls and torrents sliding over volcanic rocks.
Tutuki Splash

18
Attractions:
“Tutuki Splash”, ticklish, deeply refreshing
When you are listening to nature’s sounds turn into
a roar you will have reached the top of the “Tutuki
Splash” volcano. If you want to experience the
ceremonial acts of the indigenous peoples in honour
of the Goddess Pelé in full-moon nights, get on the
Tutuki’s wagons and get down from the top of the
volcano to the lake at a dashing speed. You will be
thankful to having refreshed in the sweet, invigorating
waters.
To know what the natives felt whenever the raged
ocean would make sailing in canoes from one island
to another a difficult feat, come aboard the “Kontiki”
and you will feel in your stomach what climbing up
and down waves means as the canoe nearly reaches
an inclination of 180º. If you don’t like the sea but dare
to experience a true tropical thunderstorms, get in the
eye of the “Tifón” (Typhoon). You will become a being
shaken in all directions, you will see the tropical jungle
upside down and live an unforgettable experience.
Shows in paradise
Boys and girls can’t leave PortAventura without
visiting a paradise called “Aves del Paraíso” an
incredible show in which the main characters are
tropical birds, beautiful and surprisingly clever.
Paco Navarro, a biologist and showman is their
trainer. He has worked at PortAventura from the
very beginning, and with him live since then many
of his birds, which he takes care of and teaches as
if they were their own children.
Neither miss “Aloha Tahiti” performed by dancers
and musicians come directly from the Southern
Seas to show in 20 minutes the beauty of the
Polynesian folklore and the Aloha spirit. When
night falls, the sacred fire plays a key role in the
dances performed in the paradise-like beach where
“Hale o Lono” is located, a sacred temple devoted
to the god of peace and prosperity. The temple is
circled by totems, some of them directly imported
from Tonga, Fiji and Samoa.
Although not everything is tradition in Polynesia.
If you want to know how a marine research centre
works, enter “Sea Odyssey”. You won’t forget it. Sail
in a submarine in a special rescue mission down the
depths of the Southern Seas; don’t panic, the first
time is always a bit shocking.
For the youngest ones there are funny sensations
in store in the Waikiki chairs, the Tami-Tami roller
coaster or the strange Loco-Loco-Tiki boat. And, if
they want to try their skills as captains, they must
jump on board the Canoes.
SésamoAventura
Let’s take a break from our trip around the real world and jump into a cartoon universe. In
SésamoAventura friendly characters are waiting for us: Elmo, Grover, the Cookie Monster, and others
such as Bert and Ernie. Welcome to PortAventura’s family area, where children are in charge!
A big entrance arch with lots of well-known faces tells us that we are in SésamoAventura, Europe’s home to the
famous Sesame Street characters. Reality becomes transformed into an animated world of buildings and landscapes,
with bright colours and rounded shapes: lampposts twist like candy sticks, fountains look like piglets and there is even
an ice cream parlour in the shape of a cupcake. We are in a place specifically designed for families, who have been
asking for years for somewhere like this, where parents can get on rides with their small children. And here it is: the
rides in this area are suitable for children from the age of one year.
Without a doubt the most eye-catching aspect is the enormous tree keeping watch over the area and ready to receive
us with a big smile. As large as a building, the branches of the Magic Tree light up at night and there is a wonderful
view of the whole of SésamoAventura from the terrace built into its trunk It is also the perfect spot for a memorable
family photo. There are numerous attractions situated around the tree, including the PortAventura train station.
Created for families, this train station allows rapid access from the main entrance of the park so that families visiting
the park with children in prams and pushchairs don’t have to travel long distances on foot. We can also take this train
to easily reach the other end of the park: Far West.
Rides:
“Tami Tami”, a roller coaster for beginners
Everything has to start somewhere and Tami Tami
is the perfect ride to introduce little ones to the
marvellous world of roller coasters. Its gentle journey
is suitable for all ages and perfect for those who want
to try small bites of adventure.
There is also Coco Piloto, an aeroplane monorail
passing along the top of SésamoAventura or
Mariposas Saltarinas, a carousel with flying
bicycles.
Food Outlets
At Cocina de Epi (Ernie’s Kitchen) we find simple
menus designed especially for the little ones.
We can eat outside in a spacious shady area next to
TeatroAventura, where shows featuring Sesame
Street characters are held all day long.
In the shop Chiki Tienda we will find everything
we could imagine, and more, on our favourite
Sesame Street characters.
Another attraction to delight younger visitors is La
Granja de Elmo (Elmo’s Farm), where children can
ride an amusing tractor.
The fun continues with El Salto de Blas, a free fall
cut down to their size, El Huerto Encantado (The
Enchanted Forest), two large play areas and Magic
Fish, an aquatic attraction.
Also in SésamoAventura you will find the already wellknown
Waikiki and Loco-Loco Tiki, with a whole
new look.
Halloween
Christmas
Scary days in PortAventura
For approximately one and a half months the most
repulsive, unpleasant and scary creatures wander about
the most unexpected places in the Park and the Resort.
Halloween is here. Not only in the attractions area you
may find the living dead and monsters, they are also
lodged in rooms at some hotels in the Park. They even
break into the kitchens and then the meals at the resort
turn into scary gastronomic proposals.
All kinds of shows for a public of all ages that is brave
and daring. Parades performed by fearsome characters
such as Dracula, the Mummy, Frankenstein or the
Addams Family. Walks in the middle of the dark in the
Polynesian jungle in company of monstrous creatures. A
terror passage in the Far West that will challenges the
nerves of the most impassive ones. And humour amidst
so much panic and terror, lots of humour to relax and
laugh out loud comfortably.
A journey to fantasy, and the sweetest and
most exciting children’s emotions
By late November, when spirits ghosts and the walking
dead return to their true dwellings and the Park gets
quiet again in a matter of very few days we have
Christmas with us. PortAventura boasts with light
and charm until 6 January.
now the leading role. PortAventura’s playful mascot
shows in “Woody on Ice” its skill and audacity on an
ice rink where visitors may also show their mettle.
Other shows featuring music and dance, bring the
youngest ones close to Santa Claus, such as the
assistance of a buffoon and a wizard sets for a journey
full of surprises to find Lapland’s most beloved elder
man.
magic and juggling and a very special decor, as well as
the food, featuring typical products of Christmas time,
which can be tasted throughout the whole Park.
PortAventura Golf
The aim of PortAventura Golf is to offer high technical rating links with a careful landscaping
and perfectly integrated with the rest of services offered by PortAventura Resort. Greg Norman
PortAventura’s three golf courses cover 200 hectares and have been designed according to the new American
concept of safe-play courses providing movements and offering options to different types of actions and terrains.
Sustainable Golf Courses
An essential precondition for the design of the three courses was that they would ensure respect to the surroundings,
the environment and water consumption. Proof of the above is the imminent Gold Signature recognition granted by
Audubon International, a prestigious conservationist entity that certifies the respectful, sustainable integration of
the best golf links in the world.
