Administration at Airline Baptist Church in Bossier City,
Louisiana. He is married to Judy Adkins Edwards, and
they have two children and five grandchildren.
1971
Carla Moore ’71, an educator with the Lubbock
Independent School District, was named the TCTA
2009-2010 Retiree of the Year. TCTA, founded in 1927,
is an association for Texas teaching professionals and
serves 50,000 members across the state. This award
is given to honor a recently retired member who has
given outstanding service to education, students, the
community and the Association during his/her career.
Moore taught in the Lubbock ISD for over 30 years
and the TCTA judge said, “She has touched many lives
in the past, and she volunteers and promotes TCTA
membership.” TCTA will honor her in February in Fort
Worth. McMurry congratulates Carla.
1980
Rev. Harry Riser ‘80 is pastor at First United Methodist
in Clovis, New Mexico and father to current McMurry
honors student and history major, Dave Riser. The
National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR)
has accepted a paper by Dave Riser for presentation at its
national meeting in April at the University of Montana.
Dave’s paper is entitled “The Music Never Died: How
Buddy Holly Changed Music Forever.” The selection
process for the conference is quite competitive, and a
“proud dad” and the McMurry community are proud of
Dave’s success.
1985
Paula Radle Lightfoot ’85 is the Controller of Insurors
of Texas in Waco, Texas. She has been married to
husband, Tracy, for 23 years. Their oldest son, Kevin, 21,
graduated from Concordia University in December 2009.
Her youngest son, Keith, is 18 and attends McMurry
University. She writes, “The tradition continues!”

Nita Houlihan Keesee ’87 is the Director of Math and
Science for Abilene ISD. Her grandson, Dylan, attends
Craig Middle School and her husband, Al, is a cable
technician for AISD. Al and Nita are expecting their
second grandchild. They recently celebrated their 36th
wedding anniversary.
1994

(Thieben) Kychik ’94 announce
the birth of Kaeleigh Sue on May
12, 2009. She was 19 in long and
weighed 6 lb and 7 oz.
1997
Lesa Cregeen ’97 graduated
with a B.A. in art, psychology,
and sociology. She is presently
employed as a customer service
specialist at A-Town/Hi-Tech of
Abilene. Lesa has recently been
involved with several art projects.
In December 2008, she and a group from Fountain Gate
Fellowship Church of Abilene sent artwork to holocaust
survivors in Israel. The artists ranged from ages 4 to
73. The 240 pieces of colorful art were viewed at Zion
Messianic Congregation in Haifa, Israel. Also, she
participated in the Abilene Heart Association’s April 2009
Gala at the Abilene Civic Center. She writes poetry as a
