COMMUNITY MOSAIC
The theme of improving our world permeates
Rashi classrooms and hallways, and
now in a very special place in our school:
the Sukkat Shalom (shelter of peace). This
place of quiet reflection, which honors the
legacies of Yitzhak Rabin and of former
Head of Rashi Jennifer Miller, has been
enhanced with a magnificent mural that
represents our community’s vision of looking
at the world.

Artist Josh Winer worked this spring with
members of all of the Rashi community, first
to brainstorm images and themes related
to tikkun olam (repairing the world) and
then to translate those ideas into a design
concept, with students in all classes adding
color and texture to the drawings.
Parents and grandparents, teachers and
NewBridge residents worked alongside
children to carefully place the tiles and apply
the grout. The result truly reflects the
essence and values of The Rashi School,
with images showing how our children are
working to make the world a better place by
engaging in acts to fix brokenness and build
community. Special thanks go to parent Dan
Snyder for providing funding for the project
in memory of his wife Wendy.
