Wildlife of all sizes abounds in <strong>Jasper</strong><br />
National Park, and most people here<br />
have their fair share of stories about<br />
encounters on the trail, a sighting of a<br />
particularly elusive animal, or the perfect photo<br />
they “almost” captured. While it is common to see<br />
all types of wildlife along the roads, on the trails,<br />
and sometimes right in town, it’s easy to forget<br />
that <strong>Jasper</strong> is Canada’s wildest national park, and<br />
visitors and residents alike are living in the bears’<br />
backyard. Ask any local about their favourite<br />
bear stories, and they will be sure to tell you all<br />
about their run-ins while at work and at play.<br />
Most encounters take place on the trail. With over<br />
1,000 kilometres of trails in the park, there are lots<br />
of opportunities to see wildlife, including bears.<br />
Like most kids, bear cubs are often curious about<br />
the world around them and sometimes this curiosity<br />
can get them into trouble. One Parks Canada<br />
employee was mopping the floor of an outhouse<br />
when someone came in behind her. Without turning,<br />
she said that the cleaning was nearly finished and<br />
