WESTFIELDS SOFTBALLERS STEPPING UP TO THE PLATE!!
On Thursday March 13 th the Westfields Sports High girls softball team
had the honour of playing Hills Sports High in the opening match of the
International Softball Challenge at the Blacktown Olympic Park Softball
facility.
The girls well and truly “stepped up to the plate”! The final score was
3 all draw but this did not reflect the amazing effort our young team
put into the game. With 4 of our year 7 girls playing their first match
and up against a NSW All Schools pitcher it was a game characterized
by awesome fielding, great base running and some top hits!
A big congratulations needs to go to Karla Davidson our #1 pitcher.
Karla who is in year 8 played a fabulous pitchers game and only gained
in confidence as the game went on! Karla had numerous strike outs
and only two opposition members were able to hit her fast and
accurate pitches.
We would also like to acknowledge the efforts of Ashlea Abbott, Jessie
Troy and Tayla Campbell whose hits and clever base running ensured
the game was never out of our reach.
After the match finished we had the opportunity to watch the Chinese
and Japanese Olympic softball team’s play. We thoroughly enjoyed
watching the two teams play mind games with each other and we
especially loved the antics of the Japanese outfielders!!

WESTFIELDS SOFTBALLERS UNIFORM!!
A decision has been made to add a training shirt to the uniform of our
Softball team. This is primarily due to the wear and tear on the
current playing shirts. All students who are in Year 8 or above will
receive the shirt for free as it is being paid for out of fundraising
money from previous years.
However, students will need to ensure that they order these shirts by
returning the uniform order forms to Ms Solomons by Tuesday March
25 th . If they are not returned by this date students will need to wait
until the next time uniforms are being ordered and that may not be
until 2009.
Any student who wishes to order any other part of the playing uniform
can do so completing the uniform order form that is available from Ms
Solomons. Once again these order forms are due back to Ms Solomons
by Tuesday March 25 th .
All students must choose a number between 2-99 for their use whilst at
Westfields. This will be their playing number. Some numbers will be
unavailable because current students are using them, so it is best to
select a few numbers that you like and write these down on your
uniform order form.
Lastly, any student who wishes to have their name on the back of their
training shirt from Year 7 -12 are welcome to do so. However, this will
require an additional payment of $10.00 to be made to the front
office.

am unavailable please leave a message and I will return it within 24
hours.
