INSTRUCTION SHEET<br />

I. OBJECTIVE:<br />

The objective of the Vishwakarma Rashtriya Puraskar (V.R.P.) is to recognize the<br />

outstanding contributions made by a worker or a group of workers in an organization<br />

covered under the Factories Act, 1948 or the Dock Workers (Safety, Health and Welfare)<br />

Act, 1986, The Building & Construction Workers (Regulation of Employment and<br />

Conditions of Service) Act, 1996, Installations under Atomic Energy Regulatory Board<br />

(AERB), through his/her/their contributions to improve productivity, occupational safety<br />

& health, environment and working conditions as well as quality & safety of product.<br />

SCOPE:<br />

1. Awards Year 2007 is for the Performance Year 2007 i.e. 01 January – 31 December,<br />

2007. Applications containing the suggestion adopted and implemented during 2007<br />

(January-December) will only be considered.<br />

2. The organization applying for the Awards should have the 'SUGGESTION<br />

SCHEMES' in operation (to be mentioned in the Application) and the suggestion<br />

should have been evaluated, adopted, implemented and awarded by the management<br />

during the performance year 2007.<br />

3. This Scheme is meant for Workmen and Supervisory category only.<br />

Managers/Executives cannot apply under the Scheme either individually or jointly.<br />

4. The suggestion implemented & awarded should have resulted in one or more of the<br />

following :<br />

Improvement in Productivity & Efficiency of processes, systems and<br />

procedures, etc. in the area of material handling, cost reduction, quality of<br />

products & services, safety & health, environment and working conditions<br />

and utilization of plant & equipment.<br />

Reduction of raw materials and fuel/power, control of waste, labour cost,<br />

operational cost, physical & mental stress and also in other form of wastages.<br />

Indigenisation of plant/machinery/components resulting in saving of foreign<br />

exchange.<br />

Awards Committee<br />

Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India constitutes a Tripartite<br />

Awards Committee having employees, employers and Government representatives for<br />

the purpose of evaluation to adjudge the winners for the Class ‘A’, Class ‘B’ & Class ‘C’<br />

Awards. There are a total 28 prizes under 3 classes. The number of prizes for Class ‘A’<br />

is 5, each amounting to Rs.75,000/-; for Class ‘B’ is 8, each of Rs.50,000/-; and for Class<br />

‘C’ is 15, each of Rs.25,000/-;. In addition to cash prizes, the winner is also awarded a<br />

Certificate of Appreciation.<br />

Number of winners in any Class may be less than the numbers given above depending<br />

upon the judgement of the Awards Committee Members. The decision of the Awards<br />

Committee/Government will be final. The Government of India will have the right to<br />

publish the contents of winning suggestions for the benefit of other organizations, if<br />

needed.


IV.<br />

Submission of application form<br />

1) Each Application form is to be accompanied by only one suggestion. A company can<br />

submit only ten applications under this scheme.<br />

2) Duly filled in Application Form (in duplicate) with all the supporting enclosures/documents and<br />

entry fee by way of demand draft for Rs.200/- drawn in favour of 'Secretary, Vishwakarma<br />

Rashtriya Puraskar Committee' on a scheduled Bank of Mumbai should be sent on or<br />

before the closing date (20.10.2008) to:<br />

3) Incomplete Application Form (suggestion summary or personal details) in any manner is<br />

liable to be rejected. All Applications must accompany two hard copies and one CD(MS-<br />

Word only) of the ‘Brief Summary of the Suggestion’ under different headings shown in<br />

5(A) of the Application Form (in about 600 words) and other necessary Drawings/Photos,<br />

Financial Gains, Calculations etc.<br />

4) Application fees once paid cannot be refunded. No receipt will be issued for the<br />

application fees.
