The affiliation of the course for the year 2013-14is awaited. The course is presented in the form of a series of class-roomteaching, practical classes, laboratory work, project work, term work,visits to industrial establishments, discussions and case studies,workshops, seminars etc. in the field of occupational safety and health.The course is divided into two semesters (of each about 6 months).During the 1 st semester, the students are required to undergo 5theoretical subjects, Engineering Drawing term work, Industrial Hygiene& Occupational Health Laboratory work etc.In the 2 nd semester the students are required to undergo 5 theoreticalsubjects including one elective paper. QUALIFICATION FOR ADMISSIONEducational Qualification(a) A Degree in Engineering / Technology from recognised Universitywith;Or(b) A Diploma in any branch of Engineering or Technology recognisedby the West Bengal State Council of Technical Education orequivalent.Or(c) A Degree in Science of a University recognised by UGC withPhysics, Chemistry & MathematicsCandidate who waited for result of the final examination will not beeligible to apply.Experience(a) The Degree in Engineering / Technology from recognised Universitywith relevant practical experience in a supervisory capacity inmanufacturing, quality assurance, maintenance, Safetydepartment, building or other construction works, port or adock, research, training/education in the field of safety orenvironment, Government Department in administration of anysafety legislation for a period of not less than 2 years.(b) Diploma in any branch of Engineering or Technology or Degree inScience of a University recognised by UGC with Physics, Chemistry& Mathematics with relevant practical experience in asupervisory capacity in manufacturing, quality assurance,maintenance, Safety department, building or otherconstruction works, port or a dock, research,training/education in the field of safety or environment,Government Department in administration of any safetylegislation for a period of not less than 5 years.AGEMaximum age limit 50 years as on 01-01-2013RESERVATIONFor SC/ST, PH candidates, seats are reserved in accordance with theGovernment Rules.NOTE :1. The following order of preference will be given while selecting thecandidates:a) Candidate having requisite qualification and experience and dulysponsored by their present employers. The sponsorship Formby General Manager and above with seal and mobile contact No.b) Candidate having requisite qualification and experience andpermission (non-sponsored) by the employer.c) Candidates having requisite qualification and experience butcurrently not employed.d) Candidates having requisite qualification and but no experienceand employment.2. Attendance – All students are required to attend 80% oftheoretical and practical classes failing which they will bepositively debarred from Registration and Examination by WestBengal State Council of Technical Education.

FEES AND OTHER EXPENSES(I) Fees:` 7,250/- (Rupees seven thousand two hundred & fifty) only for theentire Course (fee once paid is not refundable). The Course Fee of` 7,250/- (Rupees seven thousand two hundred & fifty) only is to bepaid by Crossed Demand Draft drawn in favour of theAdministrative Officer, Regional Labour Institute, Lake Town,Kolkata – 700 089 payable at Kolkata at the time of admission.(II) Other Expenses:(A) A bed in a double-bedded room (lodging only) will be providedto those who opt to stay in the hostel of this Institute. An amountof ` 30/- (Rupees thirty) only per head per day will be charged.The charges are payable in advance for each month or partthereof to the Institute in Cash. No family accommodation canbe provided. Accommodation will be given only to theparticipants.(B) Caution Money deposit of ` 1,200/- (Rupees one thousand twohundred) only for Library facility will have to be paid in Cash atthe time of admission.(C) Registration Fee and Examination Fee as prescribed by WestBengal State Council of Technical Education, Governmentof West Bengal is to be paid by the students.(D) In addition to the above charges:(a) The students will have to bear the expenses in connectionwith industrial visits arranged as a part of the curriculum.(b) Incidental expenses for project work, sessional workand stationery are also to be borne by the studentsthemselves.APPLICATIONCandidates, residing or working in the states of West Bengal, Bihar,Odisha, Jharkhand and all the North-Eastern States are only eligibleto apply.
