Christie technicians were able to assure triple
redundancy, so that if any lamp burned out
during the presentation, any one of the projectors
would be able to pick up the slack without loss
of brightness in the 3D presentation.”
The projection system
consisted of three
major parts: Dolby
servers, XPAND 3D
Cinema System and
Christie digital projectors. Kern added, “They all
integrated wonderfully. We’re very fortunate to
have a system that we could count on for this
event. What most people don't realize is that
we're starting the movie right when the sun goes
down, so we're actually testing 48 hours before
the show. We are very pleased that the systems
have been so stable that we know, when we hit
the screen, we're going to be ready to go the first
time. The projectors have just been really a dream
to work with.”
