Club Culture & Community, Inclusion and Integration Aim: To strengthen our links with all Communities, to promote Irish language and to create a welcoming environment for everyone. Introduction The heart of the Cumann Lúthchleas Gael continues to be the club, our culture and the community. The GAA is recognised as the leading organisation in the county for providing voluntary activity and events for families and for bringing communities together. The Association’s core values and ethos will help to hold society together in an ever-changing world. We must continue to strengthen our community links and maintain our position as Meath’s number one community based organsiation. Key Projects: Appointment of an Inclusion Officer We will appoint an Inclusion Officer, whose role will be to encourage greater participation in our games amongst the new Irish as well as promote games for those with a disability. Club Family Day/ La na gClub We will encourage family days in our clubs, similar to the La na gClub days that were held in 2009 and 2010. These days will showcase our clubs to their communities as well and encourage new volunteers to become involved in our clubs. Scór The promotion of our culture is at the heart of the GAA and is what distinguishes the GAA from all other sporting organisations. We will aim to increase participation in Scór and increase the number of clubs taking part. We will also encourage our clubs to hold cultural nights. Ladies Football and Camogie It is encouraging to see the growth in the numbers playing Ladies Football and Camogie. We will work closely with our sister organisations to promote the Gaelic family of sports for the mutual benefit of all. 20
