Indian River Chapter<br />
Meeting Minutes<br />
October 27, 2009<br />
Meeting Held at Shindig’s Irish Restaurant in Port St. Lucie, FL.<br />
Called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Chapter President Eric Matthews.<br />
Eric Matthews read the anti trust disclaimer.<br />
There were 13 members in attendance.<br />

Director’s Report: Don Lanthorne, in attendance, reported;<br />
Spoke about the increasing incidents of survey equipment theft .<br />
Fielded a question from the membership regarding increased fees.<br />
Informed the Membership of the next board meeting.<br />
Old Business<br />
The only item was a request for clarification regarding Indian River Chapter’s donation to the PAC<br />
fund posed by Mike O’Brien. The inquiry was addressed to the satisfaction of the membership.<br />
New Business:<br />
Mike O’Brien <strong>and</strong> Ted Phillips put forward a request to continue Indian River Chapter’s traditional<br />
involvement in the White Doves program <strong>and</strong> sought funds for same.<br />
Steven Hyde suggested that the Chapter also donate funds toward purchasing gift cards for any<br />
number of surveyors who have been adversely affected in this economy.<br />
After some discussion motions were put forward <strong>and</strong> seconded to contribute $500 toward the White<br />
Doves organization which Ted Phillips <strong>and</strong> Mike O’Brien would h<strong>and</strong>le <strong>and</strong> $1000 would be used to<br />
buy $100 gift cards to be distributed to those that the Chapter officer felt were most in need this<br />
holiday season.<br />
Steven Hyde suggested the Chapter explore the possibility of hosting a short duration CEU class to<br />
benefit the membership.<br />
Discussions were put forward regarding speakers for future meetings, Eric Matthews stated the<br />
Chapter may have an opportunity to have the District State Representative speak early 2010.<br />
Requests for input regarding future fund raisers, e.g.(golf tournament, trap shooting, etc.) were<br />
solicited for future consideration.<br />
Adjournment: A motion for adjournment was made at 7:40 PM, seconded, <strong>and</strong> passed.
