Minutes of the Volusia County FSMS Chapter Meeting – August 11, 2009approved by the membership 9/8/09Tuesday August 11, 2009Chapter President Larry Efird Jr. called the meeting to order at 6:35 P.M. The meeting was held at the Oyster Pubin Daytona Beach with 11 members (per the sign in roster) in attendance. Larry read the antitrust statement andhad everyone introduce themselves.Secretaries Report:The minutes summarizing the July meeting were offered for approval and accepted as originally forwarded. TheChapter Secretary determined that everyone present had gotten a copy and again asked everyone to verify theircontact information on the sign in sheet making the rounds.Treasurer’s Report:Jeff Cory gave the Treasurer’s report detailing funds added and payments made. Last month’s income included:$65 from the marble raffle, Golf Tournament revenue $1844 and FSMS dues $150. Expenditures included $11.61for guest meal at the July meeting; currently there is a total of $6518.60 in the treasury, which includes $873committed to the marble fund raffle and $1635 in the Emergency Relief Fund; Golf tournament profit(disbursement to be determined) was $1770; this leaves $2240.60 usable or uncommitted. Odds for the marbleraffle this evening are 1:32. There was a motion and second to accept the Treasurer’s report as presented.Motion approved.Old Business:The FSMS Conference was raised and a review of the business to be conducted there offered. Specifically, theissue of annual donations was raised, however this was deferred to new business. It was again announced thatthe Chapter BBQ Team will represent the Chapter at the Annual Conference, going down Wednesday, August19 th for the cook-off. Those present were urged to support the Conference and the Team by attending!Larry brought up Chapter Officers and Directors nominations from the previous meeting. He pointed out thatAnthony Sanzone was the new in-coming Chapter President and identified that Will Hart again preferred not to beconsidered for the Vice President position. Nominated last month for consideration for Chapter VicePresident/President Elect then were: Lance Knutsen, and Robbie Carter. By a show of hands, Robbie Carterreceived the VP position. Ray Drimmel, Louis Reinoso and Kevin Gardner were confirmed as Chapter Directors. Itwas anticipated the swearing in of officers would occur at the September meeting.New Business:It was identified that during the August 18-23 FSMS Annual Conference several things usually occurred that theChapter needed to be aware of, the cook-off, already discussed, being one, but that Larry wanted to expand onthat topic briefly. He was again asking for a stipend to help pay for things like food, gas, and wood for the grill. Amotion was made and seconded and unanimously agreed to, to provide the BBQ team $250, and the ChapterTreasurer offered to write the check before the meeting broke up. It was pointed out that the Friday Businessmeeting at the conference was open to everyone, whether registered or not and that there was aPresident/President Elect meeting that Larry and Anthony should attend if possible. The Chapter Treasurer raisedthe fact that the Chapters normally made donations to the organization during the conference, which initiated abrief discussion of amounts involved and toward which purposes. Last year the Chapter provided donationstotaling $1500, with $500 each to the PAC and to the two scholarship funds supported. After a lengthy discussionand review of the Chapter finances a motion was made and seconded to donate $500 again to the PAC but toonly donate $250 each to the two scholarship funds. A voice vote passed the motion with one dissenting vote.Al Hill, the Volusia County GIS Manager volunteered the fact that the County had just received new FDOT 2009aerial photography and that it would be available shortly for download and distribution, but that he had anadvance copy available for the raffle this evening; further he pointed out that the preliminary meeting to initiate are-engineering of the counties flood maps had been held the previous week with anticipated initial delivery fromthe contractor late fourth quarter 2010.There was brief discussion about scheduling a combined meeting with the Central Florida Chapter, there wasinterest but further discussion was warranted at future Chapter meetings.Raffle:Larry Efird Jr. won the DVD of new aerials; Reggie Priest won the chance to draw for the marble with the chance

to win $873 plus ½ the evenings raffle ticket sales.
