How Can this Guideline Benefit You?<br />

This guideline was designed to provide l<strong>and</strong><br />

managers <strong>and</strong> ranchers with direct, helpful<br />

information on how to best use livestock for<br />

managing invasive annual grasses, such as<br />

cheatgrass, medusahead <strong>and</strong> ventenata. In<br />

many cases, livestock may be the best tool to<br />

manage annual grasses <strong>and</strong> the goal of this<br />

guide is to provide the ecological basis for using<br />

livestock to manage invasive grasses <strong>and</strong><br />

examples of how to use livestock to manage<br />

rangel<strong>and</strong>s.<br />

Whether you are faced with the threat of<br />

invasion by annual grasses, have areas where<br />

annual grasses have invaded but desired<br />

species are still present, or maybe you are<br />

challenged with areas where annual grass<br />

monocultures require the site be revegetated or<br />

restored, grazing should be a part of your<br />
