6.2 Demographics – age and gender<br />
6.2.1 Age distribution <strong>of</strong> mathematics teachers<br />
<strong>The</strong> average age <strong>of</strong> the mathematics teachers respond<strong>in</strong>g to this study was 44.0 years, with a<br />
median age <strong>of</strong> 46 years (Table 6.3). Thirty-eight per cent <strong>of</strong> teachers were over 49 years <strong>of</strong> age, and<br />
fifteen per cent over 54 years <strong>of</strong> age (Figure 6.1).<br />
