Secretary’s Message
Dear Friends,
The recent advisory issued by five countries
viz. the USA, Britain, Canada, Australia and
New Zealand to their citizens against travelling
to India during the festive season has been
a dampener for the Indian travel trade.
Hospitality gets affected the maximum and I
strongly object to such advisories being issued
now and then against India. Any country issues
an advisory against India without considering
the peaceful approach this country takes in
every walk of life. The fact is India is promoting its destinations and festivities. I am happy
that India has shown its serious stand on the issue, as the Foreign Secretary conveyed
his unhappiness on the language used for the advisories being inappropriate. I also
thank Shri Subodh Kant Sahai Ji for speaking to Ministry of External Affairs in relation to
this. Nonetheless, the past few months have otherwise been good in certain terms. In
the 19th UNWTO General Assembly, India has been recognised as the United Nations
South Asian Regional Commission for Tourism Chairman for the Region of South Asia
and this has been a feather in the cap. This is a big achievement for all of us.
The Executive Committee of FHRAI completes one momentous year and we all
enjoyed the experience of working together. I am proud of the fact that the association
has touched upon integral issues pertaining to industry and addressed all concerns
of its members. FHRAI has always taken initiatives pertinent and would continue to
remain aggressive for its members’ cause. I hope, the coming year will be fruitful for
FHRAI and Indian hospitality industry. I am also happy to share that the new look of
FHRAI Magazine has been well appreciated. I expect that all members will continue to
share their valuable feedback. I hope you, the backbone of the association, will continue
to support with your suggestions to take FHRAI ahead in the future. Your positive
response will help the FHRAI to reduce the problems industry is facing. There is a need
for the members to be active and promote tourism to a greater height through FHRAI.
I take this opportunity to thank all members for their consistent support that was
extended in this year.
