participating primary care providers. Through the<br />

program, eligible e-prescribers can receive<br />

sponsorship which includes: hand-held device<br />

loaded with e-prescribing software, one year license<br />

fee and support, 6 months of Internet connectivity<br />

where applicable, deployment (including training<br />

& one time patient data download where feasible),<br />

and access to a browser version of the software<br />

from any PC with Internet connectivity.<br />

By 2009, the state employee health plan will<br />

require all in-network pharmacies to accept<br />

e-prescribing. By 2011, all network providers must<br />

e-prescribe. Failure to meet these deadlines could<br />

mean removal from the network. Physicians who<br />

do not comply with the 2011 e-prescribing deadline<br />

will not be reimbursed for treating state employees.<br />
