Under the program, physicians who are members<br />
of the Nevada State Medical Association can receive<br />
Allscripts’ e-prescribing software at no cost for two<br />
years, while nonmember physicians can receive the<br />
software at no cost but must pay a $20 monthly<br />
fee to use it. All physicians must pay for their own<br />
hardware, including computers and monitors.<br />

A statewide, physician-centric, multi-payor,<br />
self-sustaining, electronic prescribing model is<br />
currently in the pilot phase. To assure adoption, all<br />
major health plans are participating in the<br />
program. Health plans’ formularies will be loaded<br />
into the e-prescribing applications for ease of<br />
physician access. Implementation costs of this pilot<br />
are being funded by participating health plans,<br />
based on New Mexico member enrollment for each<br />
plan. More than 120 physicians are participating in<br />
this pilot to date.<br />
