OBIC Business Consultants Co., Ltd. (headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Toky o; Shigef umi
Wada, CEO; "OBC" hereaf ter) and NTT DATA Corporation (headquarters: Koto-ku,
Toky o; Tomokazu Hamaguchi, President and CEO; "NTT DATA" hereaf ter) hav e agreed
to activ ely link the f inancial data used by the Kanjo Bugy o Series of core business
sof tware dev eloped and sold by OBC and the Tatsuzin Series of tax preparation
sof tware dev eloped and sold by NTT DATA and aimed at accounting f irms and
corporate accounting div isions. Through this arrangement, the two companies will striv e
to strengthen and expand their business operations by collaborating in the arenas of
sales support, sales promotions, and product planning.
This will f acilitate smoother tax preparation and f ilings with Tatsuzin Series-created
f orms f or that purpose, utilizing f inancial accounting data generated by the Kanjo
Bugy o Series packages on which many public accounting of f ices and companies now
rely . By achiev ing data interoperability with OBC, one of the leading suppliers of
business sof tware to the small and medium-scale business community , NTT DATA will
be better positioned to expand its Tatsuzin Series user base among businesses that
require tax preparation sof tware.
Background: About Data Linking
In practice, f inancial accounting data that f orm the basis f or tax computations are
required when tax declarations are to be prepared and f iled. Tax sof tware packages
conv entionally hav e been dev eloped and sold by bundling them with f inancial
accounting sof tware packages. Howev er, because most sof tware f irms hav e relied on
their own proprietary f ormats, data generated by any giv en package was compatible
only with other sof tware f rom the same commercial source. As a consequence, if one
wanted to utilize data linking f unctions, one had to install f inancial accounting and tax
preparation packages f rom one and the same series.

Ev en if an accounting f irm utilized f inancial accounting data prepared by a corporate
client f or tax declaration purposes, it was dif f icult if not impossible to link together
those data with existing standalone tax sof tware packages. Because the data could not
be utilized v ery ef f ectiv ely , it was necessary to div ide the process into stages and
hav e the data re-entered with the tax preparation sof tware.
Method of Data Linking
Thanks to the new alliance between OBC and NTT DATA, a linkage component will allow
Tatsuzin Series sof tware to perf orm tax f iling procedures with f inancial data directly
imported f rom Kanjo Bugy o Series sof tware. Furthermore, using Tatsuzin Plus, it will be
possible to e-f ile tax declarations incorporating these data. These f eatures will expand
the choices av ailable at tax f iling time and f acilitate v ast ef f iciency gains f or
companies that use Kanjo Bugy o as their primary business sof tware package as well
as the accounting f irms that prov ide consulting serv ices to such clientele.
The linkage component will be av ailable f or f ree download f rom the NTT DATA website
(http://www.tatsuzin.com) starting in early October 2005.
Future Developments
OBC and NTT DATA believ e the new data interoperability arrangement will reap
signif icant cost sav ings f or users of their sof tware products by allowing f or a more
unif orm f low of f inancial accounting operations, f rom day -to-day accounting to tax
f orm preparation and f iling. Both companies plan to harness the data tie-up as a
springboard f or aggressiv e promotional sales campaigns in the f uture.
Additionally , they plan to activ ely pursue data linkage arrangements f or NTT DATA's
Tatsuzin Series and OBC's entire Bugy o Series of sof tware products, not only Kanjo
Bugy o 21 Ver. II. (See the accompany ing supplement f or f urther inf ormation on each
of the products slated f or data linkage.)
