LILLIAN G. BURRY was born in New York City, attended<br />

public schools and Wagner College, where she graduated<br />

Cum Laude with a degree in Political Science and History. She<br />

was elected to the National History Fraternity and in 2005 and<br />

was granted the Wagner College Fellow in Political Science.<br />

When Mrs. Burry served on Matawan’s governing body<br />

she secured HUD funding for the restoration of Matawan<br />

Town Hall. Her efforts with Historic Preservation in<br />

Matawan enabled the town to purchase and restore the<br />

borough’s historic Burrowes’ Mansion, c. 1700. She<br />

spearheaded the purchase of Matawan’s wetlands and played<br />

a leading role in fighting the Imperial Oil Company after it was<br />

found to be dumping at Burnt Fly Bog.<br />

In 1997, she was elected to the first of three terms as a member of the Colts Neck<br />

Township Committee serving as Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Committeewoman. In Colts<br />

Neck, she was involved in the Planning Board, Long-Range Planning Committee,<br />

Architectural Review Committee, <strong>County</strong> Government Liaison, Earle Naval Weapons<br />

Station Liaison, September 11th Memorial Committee, the Environmental Commission<br />

and she was in the forefront with the Farmland & Open Space Preservation Program.<br />

Mrs. Burry was elected to the <strong>Monmouth</strong> <strong>County</strong> Board of Chosen Freeholders in<br />

November of 2005 and reelected in 2008 and 2011. She served as Director of the Board<br />

in 2008 and in 2010. Her areas of responsibility include the oversight of Board of<br />

Elections, Recreation Commission & Park System, Construction Board of Appeals,<br />

<strong>County</strong> Clerk, Consumer Affairs, Division of Planning, Library System, Medical<br />

Examiner, Police Academy, Prosecutor, Rutgers Extension Services, Sheriff, MCCI,<br />

Emergency Management, Superintendent of Elections, Surrogate, Vocational Schools. In<br />

2006, Mrs. Burry was appointed to the Fort <strong>Monmouth</strong> Economic Revitalization<br />

Authority and serves as Vice Chair. In 2010, she was re-appointed to the Fort <strong>Monmouth</strong><br />

Economic Revitalization Authority and chairs the Veteran’s Service sub-committee.<br />

Mrs. Burry received the 2008 Marine Corps League, “Distinguished Citizen” Award,<br />

the 2008 “Person of the Year” Award from the Sheriff ’s Officers Fraternal Order of<br />

Police and received recognition from the Army National Guard Freedom Salute Campaign<br />

and was the 2010 <strong>Monmouth</strong> <strong>County</strong> Historical Commission Person of the Year.<br />

Mrs. Burry has been in business for more than 30 years, as owner and broker of<br />

record of Colts Neck Realty. She is married to Donald L. Burry. They have one daughter<br />

and two grandchildren.<br />

GARY J. RICH SR. was elected to the <strong>Monmouth</strong><br />

<strong>County</strong> Board of Chosen Freeholders in November<br />

2011.<br />

Freeholder Rich, a resident of Spring Lake, began his<br />

career as a school teacher working at St. Rose in Belmar,<br />

Freehold Borough Middle School and Marlboro Middle<br />

School. In 1979 he left teaching and began working for several<br />

major corporations in the computer business, becoming<br />

President of Atlantic Systems.<br />

Throughout the years, Mr. Rich was elected to public<br />

office four times. In 1980, he was elected to the council in<br />

South Belmar, which today is known as Lake Como. After<br />

moving to Spring Lake, he was elected to the Borough<br />

Council where he served for three terms.<br />

Mr. Rich served on the Spring Lake finance committee for several years helping<br />

Spring Lake avoid tax increases and increases in the municipal budget. This<br />

effort was accomplished maintaining a superb level of public services while rebuilding<br />

an aging infrastructure that had a 100-year-old water and sewer system.<br />

Additionally, as a councilman he served on many committees including Public<br />

Safety, Traffic Safety, Planning Board, Beach Committee, Board of Health and<br />

Water Sewer Advisory Committee.<br />

Mr. Rich aims to help <strong>Monmouth</strong> <strong>County</strong> to become more effective with a<br />

focus on controlling taxes and providing efficient and transparent government.<br />

As a Freeholder, Mr. Rich is in charge of the Board of Taxation, Clerk of the<br />

Board, <strong>County</strong> Administrator, <strong>County</strong> Counsel, Department of Finanace, Division<br />

of Purchasing, Human Resources, Information Techonology, Insurance & Risk<br />

Management.<br />

Mr. Rich currently works at Dell, Inc. as an Account Executive. He lives in<br />

Spring Lake with his wife Ann of 31 years. They have three children, Gary Jr.,<br />

Steven and Devin.<br />
