SHAUN GOLDEN<br />

SHERIFF SHAUN GOLDEN is the chief executive of <strong>Monmouth</strong> <strong>County</strong>’s largest law<br />

enforcement agency, which includes the 1,328 bed maximum security <strong>Monmouth</strong><br />

<strong>County</strong> Correctional Institution, the <strong>Monmouth</strong> <strong>County</strong> 9-1-1 Communications Center<br />

and the Civil Process Unit.<br />

Throughout the years, the <strong>Monmouth</strong> <strong>County</strong> Sheriff ’s Office developed innovative<br />

programs and partnerships including the Citizens Leadership Council, Citizen's Police<br />

Academy, Sheriff Youth Week, Prison Awareness, Identification Cards, Identity Theft,<br />

seat belt safety awareness and court security initiatives.<br />

Cooperative efforts with the Office on Aging resulted in Senior Scan-Seniors<br />

Fighting Terrorism; Project Lifesaver, an electronic monitoring program for people with<br />

memory disorders; Safe Surfing for Seniors, a program on Internet safety, and Triad,<br />

bringing law enforcement and seniors together to address the needs of <strong>Monmouth</strong><br />

<strong>County</strong> seniors.<br />

The <strong>Monmouth</strong> <strong>County</strong> Sheriff ’s Office is nationally accredited in all areas of<br />

operation, and continues to maintain or exceed those nationally accepted standards.<br />

Prior to being elected sheriff in 2010, Mr. Golden served as undersheriff where he<br />

was responsible for the <strong>Monmouth</strong> <strong>County</strong> 9-1-1 Communications Center and the<br />

communications and computer networking equipment for both county and municipal<br />

agencies. He has been instrumental in promoting and implementing shared services with<br />

towns at cost savings measures through the 9-1-1 Center.<br />

A lifelong resident of <strong>Monmouth</strong> <strong>County</strong>, Sheriff Golden is experienced in law<br />

enforcement and public administration. As a career law enforcement officer for 18 years,<br />

he served as a police officer with the Colts Neck Police Department and the Toms River<br />

Police Department, where he was responsible for the information and technology office.<br />

He worked as a certified paramedic for MONOC, serving <strong>Monmouth</strong> and Ocean<br />

counties, and was a volunteer firefighter and EMT.<br />

Sheriff Golden holds a master’s degree in administration from Seton Hall<br />

University, is a NJ Certified Public Manager and an adjunct professor at <strong>Monmouth</strong><br />

University with the Department of Political Science and Public Policy.<br />

In addition, Sheriff Golden has received numerous certifications in incident command,<br />

homeland security and emergency management initiatives.<br />

PETER WARSHAW, JR.<br />

THE COUNTY PROSECUTOR is appointed by the Governor to serve a five-year term. The<br />

<strong>Monmouth</strong> <strong>County</strong> Prosecutor's Office deals with approximately 15,000 cases annually<br />

and employs more than 50 lawyers, 80 detectives and a support staff of more than<br />

150. As chief law enforcement officer, the Prosecutor works closely with<br />

municipal, county, state and federal law enforcement agencies to investigate and<br />

prosecute crimes committed in <strong>Monmouth</strong> <strong>County</strong>.<br />

The Prosecutor's Office has many diverse and specialized investigative units that<br />

focus on violent crimes, sex crimes, child abuse, official misconduct, public corruption,<br />

gangs, financial and computer crimes. The Prosecutor has the ultimate responsibility for<br />

determining which criminal cases should be brought to trial and supervises all municipal<br />

prosecutors in the county.<br />

Peter Warshaw, Jr. is a 1983 graduate of the University of Delaware and a 1986<br />

graduate of the Delaware Law School of Widener University.<br />

Warshaw began his career with the <strong>Monmouth</strong> <strong>County</strong> Prosecutor’s Office as a law<br />

clerk in 1986 and was sworn in as an Assistant Prosecutor in1987 and served in the<br />

Juvenile/Family Division, the Trial Division, the Narcotics Unit and the Economic<br />

Crimes Unit. In 1991, Warshaw was assigned to the Major Crimes Unit where he supervised<br />

arson and environmental crimes investigations. In 1995, he became Director of the<br />

Major Crimes Unit and served in that position until he was appointed First Assistant<br />

Prosecutor in 2006.<br />

Warshaw has been a certified criminal attorney since March 1997. He served as either<br />

Chairman or Co-chairman of the <strong>Monmouth</strong> Bar Association’s Criminal Practice<br />

Committee from 2002-08. He has been a trustee of the <strong>Monmouth</strong> Bar Association since<br />

2007 and the <strong>Monmouth</strong> Bar Foundation since 2006.<br />

In 2010, Warshaw received the Career Advocacy Award for outstanding<br />

advocacy from the New Jersey <strong>County</strong> Prosecutors Association.<br />

On November 22, 2010, Gov. Christie nominated Mr. Warshaw to the Office of<br />

<strong>Monmouth</strong> <strong>County</strong> Prosecutor and he was sworn in on January 31, 2011.<br />

Warshaw and his wife, Maureen, reside in Middletown with their two children.<br />
