About the Author<br />
Dr. Trevor Findlay is a CIGI senior fellow and holder of the<br />
William and Jeanie Barton Chair in International Affairs<br />
and a professor at the Norman Paterson School of International<br />
Affairs at Carleton University, Ottawa, where he is<br />
also director of the Canadian Centre for Treaty Compliance.<br />
From 1998 to early 2005, Dr. Findlay was executive director<br />
of the Verification Research, Training and Information Centre<br />
in London, UK. As an Australian diplomat, Dr. Findlay<br />
was a member of the Australian delegation to the Conference<br />
on Disarmament, the UN General Assembly and the<br />
UN Disarmament Commission. He was a senior fellow and<br />
acting head of the Peace Research Centre at the Australian<br />
National University before establishing the program on<br />
peacekeeping and regional security at the Stockholm International<br />
Peace Research Institute in Sweden. He is the<br />
author of several books, including Nuclear Dynamite: The<br />
Peaceful Nuclear Explosions Fiasco (Brassey’s Australia,<br />
1990) and The Use of Force in UN Peace Operations (Oxford<br />
University Press, 2002). He holds a BA Honours in<br />
political science from the University of Melbourne and a<br />
master’s degree and PhD in international relations from the<br />
Australian National University.<br />
