STAGE ONE REPORT Introduction This discussion paper has been compiled to inform the first meeting of the Armagh City Centre Masterplan Advisory Group, scheduled to take place on the 27th of June 2008. The Armagh City Centre Masterplan was commissioned by the Southern Regional Development Office (DSD) with Armagh City and District Council. The role of the Masterplan will be to inform the promotion, timing and implementation of regeneration initiatives within the city centre of Armagh over the short, medium and long term. Whilst taking into account existing programmes and developments, the masterplan will be an opportunity to develop a strong vision for the physical, social and economic regeneration of the Armagh City Centre. The Advisory Group has been assembled from business leaders and other stakeholders in the city and will participate in the development of the masterplan through a series of workshops with the appointed consultant team. The team of consultants comprises of 8 specialist organisations, all of whom have an existing working relationship and share extensive experience in town centre regeneration in Northern Ireland and further a field. The team is led by The Paul Hogarth Company. They will manage the team and masterplan process from their office in Belfast, whilst leading on Masterplanning, Urban Design and Landscape Architecture components of the plan. Advice on Conservation Architectural issues will be provided by Alastair Coey Architects. Planning consultancy will be provided by DTZ, with market analysis and advice from CB Richard Ellis. All aspects of transportation will be addressed by JMP Consulting. The economic context to the masterplan will be provided by Price Waterhouse Coopers and an indication of costs resulting from the masterplan proposals provided by White Young Green.
