Ana Miesse - Ana C. Miesse, 96, Lancaster, passed away Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002, at Fairfield Medical<br />
Center.<br />
She was a former teacher in the Lancaster School District, a World War II veteran, YWCA executive in<br />
Racine, Wis., and Toledo. She retired from the Philadelphia YWCA as associate executive.<br />
She is survived by two sisters, A. Lucile Young of Sugar Grove and Lynella D. Kiger of Columbus; and<br />
nieces and nephews.<br />
She was preceded in death by parents, Luther and Daisy Miesse; and brother, Russell H. Miesse.<br />
Her body was donated to the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine.<br />
A private memorial will be held later.<br />

Ella Bookman – Ella Veidt Bookman, 96, died Monday, Feb. 26, 2001, in Cincinnati. She was a Lancaster<br />
resident for 65 years.<br />
Ella was active in the Quota Club, Eastern Star, CCL, and was a member of First Presbyterian Church for<br />
more than 80 years. She was a retired secretary under five different superintendents at the Boys Industrial<br />
School.<br />
She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond Bookman, devoted mother of Gene (Peggy) Bookman and<br />
Louise (Howard) Everhart. She also is survived by four grandchildren, Timothy, Stephen, Kimberly and<br />
Rebecca; and four great-grandchildren.<br />
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Sherwood Anderson<br />
officiating.<br />
Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery.<br />
Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church.<br />
The family suggests memorials be made in her memory to First Presbyterian Church.<br />
Arrangements were handled by Halteman-Fett & Dyer Funeral Home.<br />

Eleanor (Swartz) Nelson<br />

Eleanor Nelson – Eleanor Nelson, 95, Bowling Green, died at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 28, 2000, at<br />
the Community Nursing Home.<br />
She was born Nov. 15, 1904, in Lancaster to James G. Swartz and Carrie M. Ronan. Mrs. Nelson married<br />
John F. Nelson who preceded her in death in 1988. Mrs. Nelson was a retired professional nurse having<br />
graduated from the Bethesda Hospital School of Nursing at Zanesville in 1925. She carried baccalaureate<br />
and masters degrees at Teachers Çollege, Columbia University.<br />
Her long professional career included teaching and administration in schools of nursing in Ohio and<br />
Illinois, and 25 years with the Ohio State Board of Nursing Education and Registration. She served nine<br />
years as a nursing education consultant and 16 years as the Boards Executive Officer. She held offices and<br />
served in communities of the Ohio Nurses Association, The American Nurses Association and The Ohio<br />
League for Nursing. She was a member of Pi Lambda Theta, an honor and professional association in<br />
nursing.<br />
She was a lifelong member of the Christian Church. She was a member of the First Christian Church,<br />
Bowling Green, where she served as elder and librarian.<br />
She is survived by four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.<br />
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Carrie Swartz.<br />
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Deck Hanneman Funeral Home, with Dr. Edwin Bomeli<br />
officiating. Burial will be held at the Union Hill Cemetery in Bowling Green.<br />
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.<br />

Grace Hansley – Grace E. Hansley, 95, Lancaster, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000, at Fairfield Medical<br />
Center.<br />
She was a school teacher at West School for Lancaster City School System and was retired from Berne<br />
Union School System. She was a member of Mills Memorial United Methodist Church, Ohio State<br />
Teacher’s Retirement, Olivedale Senior Center and Pleasantville American Legion Auxiliary.<br />
She is survived by nephews, Andrew Voris of Lancaster and Judge Michael J. Voris of Cincinnati; and<br />
several great-nieces and nephews.<br />
She was preceded in death by her husband, Grant Hansley; brother, Dr. Clyde A Voris; and sister, Anna<br />
Tipton.<br />
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Lancaster with the<br />
Rev. Arthur “Chip” Koch officiating. Burial will follow in Stukey Cemetery.<br />
Friends may visit from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.<br />

Chapter, 17. Order of Eastern Star, past president, Knight Templar of Advancement, and Grand Council<br />
Knight Masons, Dublin, Ireland.<br />
Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Ann, two sons, Dean Edson Feeman, Lexington, Ky., and William Lee<br />
Feeman, 276 Rowland Ave.; one daughter, Mrs. Donna Kathryn Rieder, 390 First Ave.; nine<br />

Dr. J. H. Donovan - POMEROY — Dr. James H. Donovan, 63, widely known Pomeroy resident, died<br />
Monday night at Holzer Hospital, Gallipolis.<br />
Dr. Donovan became ill earlier Monday and was taken to the hospital by ambulance. Death was attributed<br />
to a heart ailment.<br />
Dr. Donovan graduated from Ohio State University college of Pharmacy in 1924. He was a varsity<br />
trackman and member of Phi Kappa Theta at Ohio State.<br />
In 1933, he graduated from the DesMoines Still Osteopathic College of Medicine, Iowa, He was a member<br />
of the New Lexington Lodge 509 Elks.<br />
Surviving are his wife, Harriet Trimble Donovan; a daughter, Mrs. Roger Hines, Gallipolis; a son, James H.<br />
Donovan II, a Columbus attorney and two grandchildren, Amy and Andrea Hines, Gallipolis.<br />
His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Donovan, Lancaster, and a brother, Edward, preceded him in death.<br />
Funeral services are to be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Sacred Heart Church, with the Rev. Fr. John<br />
Turel officiating.<br />
