Ana Miesse - Ana C. Miesse, 96, Lancaster, passed away Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002, at Fairfield Medical
Center.
She was a former teacher in the Lancaster School District, a World War II veteran, YWCA executive in
Racine, Wis., and Toledo. She retired from the Philadelphia YWCA as associate executive.
She is survived by two sisters, A. Lucile Young of Sugar Grove and Lynella D. Kiger of Columbus; and
nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by parents, Luther and Daisy Miesse; and brother, Russell H. Miesse.
Her body was donated to the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine.
A private memorial will be held later.

Ella Arena (Veidt) Bookman

Ella Bookman – Ella Veidt Bookman, 96, died Monday, Feb. 26, 2001, in Cincinnati. She was a Lancaster
resident for 65 years.
Ella was active in the Quota Club, Eastern Star, CCL, and was a member of First Presbyterian Church for
more than 80 years. She was a retired secretary under five different superintendents at the Boys Industrial
School.
She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond Bookman, devoted mother of Gene (Peggy) Bookman and
Louise (Howard) Everhart. She also is survived by four grandchildren, Timothy, Stephen, Kimberly and
Rebecca; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Sherwood Anderson
officiating.
Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church.
The family suggests memorials be made in her memory to First Presbyterian Church.
Arrangements were handled by Halteman-Fett & Dyer Funeral Home.

Eleanor (Swartz) Nelson

Eleanor Nelson – Eleanor Nelson, 95, Bowling Green, died at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 28, 2000, at
the Community Nursing Home.
She was born Nov. 15, 1904, in Lancaster to James G. Swartz and Carrie M. Ronan. Mrs. Nelson married
John F. Nelson who preceded her in death in 1988. Mrs. Nelson was a retired professional nurse having
graduated from the Bethesda Hospital School of Nursing at Zanesville in 1925. She carried baccalaureate
and masters degrees at Teachers Çollege, Columbia University.
Her long professional career included teaching and administration in schools of nursing in Ohio and
Illinois, and 25 years with the Ohio State Board of Nursing Education and Registration. She served nine
years as a nursing education consultant and 16 years as the Boards Executive Officer. She held offices and
served in communities of the Ohio Nurses Association, The American Nurses Association and The Ohio
League for Nursing. She was a member of Pi Lambda Theta, an honor and professional association in
nursing.
She was a lifelong member of the Christian Church. She was a member of the First Christian Church,
Bowling Green, where she served as elder and librarian.
She is survived by four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Carrie Swartz.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Deck Hanneman Funeral Home, with Dr. Edwin Bomeli
officiating. Burial will be held at the Union Hill Cemetery in Bowling Green.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Grace Elizabeth (Voris) Hansley

Grace Hansley – Grace E. Hansley, 95, Lancaster, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000, at Fairfield Medical
Center.
She was a school teacher at West School for Lancaster City School System and was retired from Berne
Union School System. She was a member of Mills Memorial United Methodist Church, Ohio State
Teacher’s Retirement, Olivedale Senior Center and Pleasantville American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by nephews, Andrew Voris of Lancaster and Judge Michael J. Voris of Cincinnati; and
several great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Grant Hansley; brother, Dr. Clyde A Voris; and sister, Anna
Tipton.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Lancaster with the
Rev. Arthur “Chip” Koch officiating. Burial will follow in Stukey Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Mrs. Howard (Marilyn Sue) Stebelton, Lithopolis; and two
grandsons, David and Lee; and four great- grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Dwayne R. Spence Funeral Home, Canal
Winchester; Rev. R. Thomas Slack officiating; burial in Lithopolis Cemetery.

A retired employee of Anchor Hocking and member of B’nai Israel Synogogue, she is survived by two
sisters, Eva Silver and Katherine S. Dworkin, both of the home; one brother, Frank, of the home; one niece,
Carole L. Dworkin, Columbus; nephew, Michael S. Dworkin, of Columbus.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Fannie Miller Silver, two brothers, Phillip and
Maurice.
Graveside services will be held Sunday, 10 a.m., at the Agudas Achim Cemetery, Columbus; Rabbi Samuel
W. Rubenstein, Rabbi Alan G. Ciner and Cantor Baruch Shifman officiating.

Fairfield Community Hospital.
A member of the Bremen United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Bremen Garden Club,
Rushcreek Grange, Pomona Grange, McGuffey Club, Bremen Senior Citizens, Farm Bureau, Farm Bureau
Council and Bremen Extension Group, she is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Tom (Rosemary) Dupler,
Lancaster; three sons, Robert W., Bremen, Edward D. and Fred W. Jr., both of Lancaster; 10 grandchildren;
two great-grandchildren several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred W. Lacey Sr.
Funeral services will be Thursday, 1:30 p.m., in the Bremen United Methodist Church; Rev. Donald
Cummans officiating; burial in Grandview Cemetery, Bremen.
Friends may call to day, 7-9 p.m., Wednesday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., at the Halteman-Fett Funeral Home, and
one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church.

five sons, Paul H. and Richard H., both of Ohio, John L., Michigan, Regan T., Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Jay
H., Sunrise, Fla.; 17 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, 10 am., at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church; burial, Queen of
Heaven Cemetery, Pompano Beach, Fla.
A rosary service will be held tonight at Fairchild Oakland Park Chapel, Oakland Park, Fla.

Earl Feeman, Active Mason, Dies At 62 - Earl Edson Feeman, 62, 122 Washington Ave., died Friday
evening at Mansfield General Hospital. Mr. Feeman was electrician in the Mansfield Water Works
Department.
He was born in Fairfield County, 0., on Feb. 5, 1904, !and had lived in Mansfield for the past 24 years and
was a member of the South Main Street Evangelical United Brethren Church.
He was a member of Marquis Lodge No. 690, F. & A. M., Mansfield Chapter No. 28, R. A. M., Mansfield
Council No. 94, R & S. M., past commander, Mansfield Commandery N. 21, K/ T., past patron, Ruth
Chapter, 17. Order of Eastern Star, past president, Knight Templar of Advancement, and Grand Council
Knight Masons, Dublin, Ireland.
Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Ann, two sons, Dean Edson Feeman, Lexington, Ky., and William Lee
Feeman, 276 Rowland Ave.; one daughter, Mrs. Donna Kathryn Rieder, 390 First Ave.; nine
grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Mabel Derbyshire, Cincinnati, and one brother, William A. Feeman,
Bremen, O.
Funeral services will be conducted at the J. H. Finefrock and Sons Funeral Home Monday at 3 p. m., by
Rev. C. C. Vandersall, pastor of the Main Street E.U.B. Church. Burial will be in Mansfield Memorial
Park Masonic Garden.
Mansfield Commandery No. 21 will conduct services at the funeral home Sunday evening at eight. Friends
may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. today.

Dr. J. H. Donovan - POMEROY — Dr. James H. Donovan, 63, widely known Pomeroy resident, died
Monday night at Holzer Hospital, Gallipolis.
Dr. Donovan became ill earlier Monday and was taken to the hospital by ambulance. Death was attributed
to a heart ailment.
Dr. Donovan graduated from Ohio State University college of Pharmacy in 1924. He was a varsity
trackman and member of Phi Kappa Theta at Ohio State.
In 1933, he graduated from the DesMoines Still Osteopathic College of Medicine, Iowa, He was a member
of the New Lexington Lodge 509 Elks.
Surviving are his wife, Harriet Trimble Donovan; a daughter, Mrs. Roger Hines, Gallipolis; a son, James H.
Donovan II, a Columbus attorney and two grandchildren, Amy and Andrea Hines, Gallipolis.
His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Donovan, Lancaster, and a brother, Edward, preceded him in death.
Funeral services are to be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Sacred Heart Church, with the Rev. Fr. John
Turel officiating.
