among the symbols of Allah)

the practice practace of the Prophet ... *! as narrated in saheeh Muslim
IThenI he stands on as-Safa as-safa facing the ihe Kabah,l !

praising and glorifying giorifying
Allah and supplicating supphcating Him, saying:
"La ilaha ill-Allahu wahdahu la shareeka lah_ Lahul-mulku wa lahulhamdu
wa huwa ala kulli shay'in qadeer. qadeer_
lanur.
La ilaha ill-Allahu wahdahu, anjaza wa'dahu
wa nasara abdahu wa
hazamal-ahzaba wahdah."
"There is no god but Allah alone with no partner His is the dominion and
His is [all] [allJ praise and He is over all things mmpetent. competent There is no god
but Allah alone; He fulfilled His promise and supported His seruant servant and
defeated the [enemyl (enemYI allies alone."

supplicating in between with anything he wishes, and if he does less
than that, there is no fault. He raises his hands ',Allahu only when supplicating,
and does not point with them when saying, "Allahu akba/
akba~'
(which is a common mistake among many pilgrims).
: IHe then descends lrom trom as-safa as-Safa
toward al-MaMah al-Marwah and supplicates with any duaa that comes to mind tor for
himself, his lamily family and the Muslims in generai general
When reaching the
green marKer, marker,
men (but not women) should run until they come to the second marker,
afier afterwhlch which they walk as usual until they arrival at al-MaMah al-Marwah
