All pilgrims coming by air. arr, sea and land must assume ihram Inram
from the meeqat meeqal over which they pass, whether by land, tand, sea or air, due
to the lhe saying of ot the Prophet prophet i9; *i when he specified spectfied the meeqats,
"They are for those who come from them and others coming comino from
beyond them who intend Hajj or Umrah."
(Narrated by al-Bukhari al,Bukhari and Muslim)
Jeddah, however, is not a meeqat for those coming in; it is a meeqat for
its residents and for whoever has entered it without the intention of ot Hajj Haij
or Umrah but later decides to perform pertorm either of ot them from there.
A man who had already performed Hajj made the intenlion intention of another
,_. Hajj for himself Then he decided to change his intention and to do it,or
j : a relative of his while he was in Arafah ls Is that permltted permitted to him or not?
J
When a person has entered ihram lor for his own Hajj, he cannot
change that intention along the way, in Arafah or anywhLre anywhere else. He
must complete the Hajj for himsell, himself, as Allah, the Exalted has said:
"And complete the Hajj and Umrah forAltah.,' Allah." (2:196)
So when he enters ihramtor forhimsell himself he must complete it it for himself and
when he enters it on behalfot of someone else he must completeit it for that
person andnol not change it once he hasassumeci
assumed ihram.
