High school girls cross country
The Lafayette Lancers finished a program-best
second in the recent Class 4
state cross country meet held at the Oak
Hills Golf Center in Jefferson City.
The Lancers finished with 103 points.
Nerinx Hall won state with 83 points.
Coach Scott Brandon was pleased with
how well his girls performed this season.

“Looking back at the season, we finished
first or second in all of the meets we ran
this year. Winning both the district and
sectional meets gave us confidence as we
made our way to the state meet.”
It was only the second district title the
Lancers have won in the last 15 years. It
was also the second consecutive sectional
title won by the Lancers.
Anna West led Lafayette with a fifthplace
finish. Her time was 18 minutes, 20.06
seconds. Sarah Nicholson was seventh in
18:21.81. Elise Larson was 29th in 19:30.79.

Julia Rombero was 36th in 19:49.96. Emma
Riordan was 84th in 20:26.01. Mollie Roban
was 131st in 21:00.21 and Courtney Trube
was 156th in 21:56.32.

races at the state meet. They found the group
they needed to race and turned in top quality
performances. Their races are the two fastest
times ever run by Lafayette girls at state.”

High school swimming
In the recent state swimming and diving
championships at the Rec-Plex in St. Peters,
Parkway North senior Jared Dachroeden
finished fifth in the 200 freestyle with a
time of 1 minute, 45.74 seconds.
Vikings coach Bart Prosser said he was
impressed with Dachroeden’s performance.
“It was a school record and his personal
best,” Prosser said. “He also holds the 100
back school record and it was his personal
best at state.”
Dachroeden finished 10th at state in the
100 back with a time of 53.62 seconds.
Last year, Dachroeden reached the finals
but did not medal. The top eight at state
earn a medal.
“My goal for him was to have a second
swim at state,” Prosser said. “He wanted a
medal.”
Before state, Dachroeden won the 200
free and 100 back in the first Suburban XII
Conference meet. His times were 1:49.66
and 53.89, which he bettered at state.
“He swam exceptionally well at conference,”
Prosser said. “He had me a little
worried that he may have been rested too
much before the big meet. Overall, it was a
great career for Jared.”
Leaving his mark on the Vikings record
board, Dachroeden finished No. 1 in the 200
free and 100 back, No. 5 in the 200 IM, No.
7 in the 500 free and No. 9 in the 100 free.
Junior Josh Zimmer also competed at
state in the 500 at state; however, he did
not make it out of the preliminaries.
Other local swimmers who medaled at
state are:
• Spencer Kraus, of Parkway Central,
was sixth in the 100 free in in 47.68.
• Lafayette’s John Wilmsen was sixth in
the 100 back in 52.67.
• Parkway West’s Luke Christensen was
seventh in the 500 free in 4.48.19.
• MICDS’ Max Goldenberg finished
eighth in the 100 butterfly in 53 seconds.
Parkway Central medaled in two relays.
The 200 medley relay team came in sixth
in 1:39.68. The 400 free relay was fourth in
3:15.43. The team finished ninth as a team
with 95 points. Lafayette was 10th with 78.
Chaminade was 13th, MICDS was 19th,
Eureka was 32nd21st, Marquette tied for
22nd, Parkway North was 30th, Parkway
West was 32nd and Parkway South was 45th.
High school signings
