March 1st - 29th
Registration for next school year begins on Friday, March 1st for all current FCS
families. FCS families have until March 29th to secure a place for 2013-2014 and
take advantage of the 10% discount for early registration.
Registration packets will be mailed in late February. If you have not received
yours by Thursday, February 28th or if you have any questions regarding registration,
please contact Joy Jensen at 674-5474 or stop by the business office.
All forms need to be completed, signed, and submitted, with the registration fee
to the business office.

Abe Daniel-New Faith Christian School Board Member
Abe Daniel has joined the Faith Christian School Board to replace
Sam Heinrich who retired from the board in July of 2012 after
fourteen years of service.
Abe is the District Student Ministries Director for the Assemblies
of God in Northern California and Nevada. He is responsible for
training and development of youth and college pastors and leaders
in over 440 churches.
Abe was called to ministry at the age of 12 and has been in pastoral
ministry since he was 18. He majored in Church Leadership at Bethany College
(University) and is an international leadership, speaker, trainer & communicator; director
of five separate summer camps; fundraiser for Speed The Light and founder and
Executive Director of Pathway Apprenticeship, a ministry designed to take graduates
and launch them into their calling of full-time ministry.
Abe and his wife, Anna, are members of Calvary Christian Center in Yuba City where
they attend with their sons, Abraham (FCS 4th grade) and Andrew& Mathew who
will enter kindergarten this fall.
Please join us in welcoming Abe to our Faith Christian School Board.
Grandparent‟s Day
Secondary campus had 95 grandparents
in attendance, despite very wet weather.
Students greeted our guests in the parking
lot with oversized umbrellas to
usher them into the First United Methodist
Church where they were greeted
by more students who welcomed them
and provided name tags.
Ray Wisner‟s stringed orchestra filled
the sanctuary with spirited music as
guests settled in. Principal, Steve
Finlay, provided interesting facts about
the school history and invited grandparents
to register to attend one of our
Faith Connection Tours where they can
learn more about the school history,
our vision for the future, and the heartfelt
testimonies of students and parents.
Guests were entertained by the Faith
Christian orchestra, band ensemble, and
the Faith Christian High School worship
team. Paul DeMeritt shared the
benefits of Christian education that
Faith Christian School offers, and introduced
The FCS Players‟ who performed
their rendition of the song, “We
Beseech Thee” from the musical, Godspell.
Student Body Vice-President,
Kyle Poppinga shared his testimony,
and students: Lydia Buerer, Tiffany
Hendricks, and Justin Glen read essays
they wrote about the importance
of family. Grandparents were then
released to attend the last class of the
day with their grandchildren and to
enjoy some light refreshments.
Grandparent‟s Day is one way that we
choose to publicly honor the ones who
so willingly influence the training up of
this generation and to say, “We appreciate
you.”

Cassandra Ekdawy has been selected as a recipient of the 2013-
2014 Comcast Leaders and Achievers® Scholarship. The award is
funded through the Comcast Foundation and recognizes high
school seniors from Comcast communities for commitment to
community service, academic achievement and demonstrated leadership.
Cassandra will receive a one-time grant of $1,000.
Comcast is committed to recognizing the efforts of young people who are making a
difference in their communities, and preparing them to become future leaders.

During our recent Holiday Classic Basketball Tournament, and
the very wet weather that accompanied it, the roof in our gymnasium
sprung a leak. Rain on the basketball court during a game is
dangerous. The situation was critical for a three-day event with
no alternative location.
Isaac Helm (9th grade) saw the dilemma and came to the rescue.
Over the course of the remaining games, Isaac volunteered to dry the court with towels
at every break in every game. Isaac saw the need and met it, with no complaint
and with no hesitation.
Jesus washed the feet of his disciples in a selfless act of service and kindness. He set
the example of godly character for all of us to follow. Well done, Isaac.

Twenty-four students from Ibaraki Christian High School in Japan
visited us December 3-5. The students were hosted in the
homes and classrooms of our students and shared their culture
with us. In addition to being at FCHS, the Japanese students also
saw some of the sights of our area such as Old Sacramento. This
is the fifth consecutive year Faith Christian High School has
hosted a group of high school juniors from Ibaraki Christian
Henry Herrera and a team of students and adults are preparing for the FCS annual
mission trip to Mexico during Easter Break. This will be the 30th year that Henry
has taken groups to minister through the Azuza Pacific University mission program.
Our group will minister through Bible school, practical helps, and street ministry to
the people of Mexico. This is one of the many ways our students minister through
service to others.

to help defray the cost of fuel for the vehicles that transport our group, send donations

Accreditation: Official approval of an institution. Official
recognition as having met a standard or criterion.
Faith Christian High School is dually accredited through
the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI)
and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges
(WASC). Our most recent accreditation was received in
2007, at which time we received a six-year accreditation
term.
Our renewal process is currently in full swing and will include
a visit by the accreditation team, a group of educators
who will review our program on March 17-20, 2013.
This is always an informative process and we look forward to receiving their evaluation
and recommendations. Please be in prayer for the completion of our preparation
and for the team visit.

Logan Denney („07)
Logan has been invited to interview for the Residence Life Director position at Gonzaga
University in Spokane, Washington; a 4-year Catholic university that is also an
NCAA powerhouse in basketball.
Logan will graduate in May, 2013 with a Master of Arts degree in Higher Education,
from Taylor University in Upland, Indiana. He and his wife, Jessica, are graduates of
Simpson University in Redding, California where they hold Bachelor of Arts degrees;
he in Liberal Studies and she in English.

Moms In Prayer is an international organization
with local groups around the
world that cover their children in
prayer. There is a group that prays for
preschoolers, and one for college and
career age students as well. Moms,
grandmothers, aunts, sisters and friends
are all welcome to participate.

Dad’s Corner
“...the glory of children are
their Fathers...” Proverbs 17:6
Dads, is it your desire to have a close-knit family? It is for me.
In Gary Smalley‟s excellent book, Key To Your Child’s Heart, he refers to six
characteristics of a close-knit family. One of the characteristics is spending
time together as a family.
These characteristics were discovered in a nationwide research conducted by
Dr. Nick Stinnett. When a cross-section of close-knit families were interviewed,
it was found that they had one particular activity in common—
”Camping”. A South Dakota pastor shared that when he asked his children
separately what was the best thing they had done as a family, every one of his
children pin-pointed “camping” as the one most unifying family activity. I
would have to say that camping has had a similar impact for our family as well.
For years my wife, Mary, had been encouraging me to “try” camping...but I had
never really been excited about “roughing it”. Everything I knew about camping
made the comforts of home irresistible.
However, in 1981, with Mary‟s dad dying of a heart attack at the age of 47, the
Lord prompted me to think through what memories I might be leaving my children
with, should the Lord take me home.
So...that summer I “suffered through” three days of camping in the Redwoods.
We have gone back nearly every summer since, and William and Crystal
wouldn‟t have had it any other way.
The memories we have chalked up through our camping experiences are rare
treasures…
Our creative July 4th fireworks; “Piccolo-Pot” (whistling tea kettle) and
“Smoklers” (smoking sticks from campfire)
Camping spot #10 (I‟m sure it has our name on it!)
Sore muscles from our annual 15 mile round-trip hike to Grasshopper Peak
Enduring car troubles
Camping does provide unique opportunities to bring the family together.
Dad, what can you do this summer to knit your family closer together? Why
not try camping? Your children will be glad you did. So will you!
―Lord, help me this summer to be the father you want me to be...I’m open to
your direction. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.‖

We Are the Hands and Feet of Christ
My husband has been ill since Thanksgiving. In the midst of work, doctor
appointments, grocery shopping, trips to the pharmacy, and rolling
the toters to the curb on trash night; my wonderful mother-in-law
brought us dinner, again and again. This simple act of kindness blessed
us. It relieved me and made us feel loved. It also caused me to think
about all the times I have prayed for others who were ill but missed the
opportunity to bless them in practical ways.
So often we pray for someone who is ill but never make contact with
them. We tell ourselves we will just pray for them because we don‟t
want to interrupt their rest with a phone call or visit. Prayer is essential
and intercession is important, but let‟s not discount the value and power
of strengthening that prayer with action. We are reminded clearly in the
book of James that, “Faith without works is dead.”
The Lord encourages us to minister to the sick. “…I was sick and you
visited me: I was in prison and you came to me…whatever you did for
one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.” Matthew 25:
36 & 40.
My husband is getting stronger every day. Through his illness I have
changed my ways and ladies, I encourage you to join me. Let‟s put feet
to our prayers. Let‟s pray for those who are sick and call or visit to pray
with them, let‟s wash their car, put their trash on the curb, or mow their
lawn. Let‟s make an extra casserole to freeze when we prepare one for
our families. Then, when we receive the call to pray, we will be ready to
be the hands and feet of Christ for those in need.
Welcome Home is a ministry to busy mothers who need encouragement to become the
Proverbs 31 woman God intends for each of us to be.

Danny Brown & Lauren DeMeritt were crowned
Homecoming King & Queen. Members of their court
included: Stefan-Paul Schweitzer & Ashlie Warta,
Kevin Christensen & Stephanie Brown, Kyle Matson
& Jill Radobenko, Brett Burton & Ashley Lohman, and Ryan Schmall &
Melissa Gage. Crowning the king & queen were royalty from the previous
year, Grant Joyner and Amber Christensen.
Homecoming this year is February 4-8, 2013.
1998 - Fifteen years ago
The class of 2002 did a class-wide service project of decorating
Valentine cookies with the children living at the Salvation Army
Depot in Marysville. Each child was able to decorate 10 cookies
to eat or to share. Cookies and lemonade were served after the
decorating was finished.
1983 - Thirty years ago
The newly formed Jr. High Student Council consisted of the following elected
members: Wendi Snelling, Daniel Bugarin, Tracy Fryer & Mary Gingrich.
