This is what the Lord wants for us, toshow love to others. That is the heart of Christmas, to love oneanother as He loves us. It is a good challenge for all of us. WhatActs of Compassion will you do today?Correction: In the October/November issue of the Lions‟ Tracks, the“Heart of Faith” article incorrectly referred to Jordan Sullivan asJoshua Sullivan. Our apologies Jordan.(Service)Bible teacher, Henry Herrera took a team of students into thehomeless community along the Feather River in late October toprovide food, clothing, shelter items, and prayer for those in need. The team will go back again before Christmas. Dad’s Corner“...the glory of children aretheir Fathers...” Proverbs 17:6By: Bill HannoldDads, knowing that we play a crucial role in our children‟s self-acceptance, howcan we encourage the development of a healthy self-esteem?We all need to experience approval from important people in our lives: spouses, parents, close friends, fellow-employees. When we don‟t receive approval, wetend to die a little bit each day. Our children are no different. In fact, theyounger they are, the more vulnerable they are to the impact of receiving or notreceiving approval from the most important man in their lives. There are a few different ways we can communicate approval to our children. The first is verbal affirmation. When we affirm someone else, we are expressinghow valuable they are as persons. We affirm people for what they are, notfor what they do.Mothers seem to have a natural instinct to affirm their children. Mom‟s loveand acceptance is almost a “given” that is frequently taken for granted. Butmany children are not really sure how Dad feels. After all the world has convincedus that to be a man we must be “macho” and not express our feelings. The world has sold us a bill of goods and our children are paying the price.Dads, we must get beyond social stigmas and affirm our children for who theyare. We must tell them often that they are valuable in our eyes as well as God‟s,that they are “fearfully and wonderfully made”, that God has a special plan andpurpose for their lives. What a tragedy if our children have to struggle through life trying to earnDad‟s approval. God forbid! Let us show them love and acceptance forthe valuable people they are while we still have the opportunity.“Lord, help me to affirm my children so that there is no doubt in theirminds of my approval for them. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”Dad’s Corner is an on-going ministry to fathers. Prior articles are available to view inarchival issues of Lions’ Tracks on our web site at www.faithchristianschool.com

Welcome HomeA wise woman builds her home… Proverbs 14:1By: Nita FochsLet‟s Get The Stink OutThere was a skunk in my garage last night. I was dreaming, but there hewas. I kept leading him out and shutting the door, but he kept comingback. At one point I marveled at how cute he was and thought abouthaving the vet remove his “perfume” gland so we could keep him as apet, but we would have to catch him first and that might prove to be waytoo smelly. So, I kept leading him out and he kept coming back in untilmy alarm awakened me.Do you have a skunk in your house? I think we all have at least one ofthose cute little guys, a sin, a bad habit, a weakness that distracts us fromdoing what we should be doing. We are strangely attracted to it in spiteof the fact that we know it isn‟t good for us. We shake it off and thinkwe have victory over it but it just keeps coming back. It might be lazinessthat keeps us from cleaning house, an unsavory television series thatwe would never admit we are addicted to, or an affinity for ice creamthat we just can‟t seem to shake.Let us set aside the distractions and those things that steal our time andour success. God has amazing things for each of us to accomplish whilewe are on this side of heaven and it is our responsibility to make sure weget them done. “…But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind andstraining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win theprize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Philippians3:13-14The Word says that we can do all things through Christ who is ourstrength. Let us speak those scriptures that encourage us to be victorious, claim that strength, set our minds to eliminate our little stinkers, andbring in the Holy Spirit exterminator to take them out.Ladies, we can do this…now let‟s get the stink out!Welcome Home is a ministry to busy mothers who need encouragement to become theProverbs 31 woman God intends for each of us to be.
