<strong>REQUEST</strong> <strong>FOR</strong> IN<strong>FOR</strong>MATION <strong>FOR</strong> <strong>MINE</strong> <strong>PLOUGHS</strong><br />
SUITABLE <strong>FOR</strong> TANK T-90<br />
1. The <strong>Indian</strong> <strong>Army</strong> is planning to procure mine ploughs suitable for fitment on<br />
Tank T-90. With a view to identify probable vendors who can undertake the said<br />
project the OEMs/Vendors are requested to forward information on the product<br />
which they can offer. The parameters/broad specifications of the item are<br />
mentioned in the questionnaire attached as Appendix ‘A’. In addition the vendors<br />
are required to furnish details as per Performa at Appendix ‘B’<br />
2. Apart from the information as per the Appendices the vendors may also<br />
forward technical details/product brochures/literature etc pertaining to the item in<br />
question.<br />

Appendix ‘A’<br />
1. Gen. The <strong>Indian</strong> <strong>Army</strong> is planning to procure mine ploughs suitable for<br />
fitment on Tank T-90. The mine ploughs should be able to provide the tank with<br />
the ability to clear mines from two tread size paths in front of the tracks of the<br />
tanks, thus enabling it to cross a mine field without damage. Tanks with mine<br />
ploughs are expected to be deployed in desert terrain, semi developed terrain and<br />
the developed terrain along our borders. There is thus a need for a suitable mine<br />
plough which can be mounted on the T-90 tank.<br />
2. The required physical characteristics the mine ploughs (The System) are: -<br />
(a) Width of treads cleared - 0.6m or more in front of each track.<br />

Max speed of tank while sweeping - Upto 15 kms/hr.<br />
Min speed of tank while sweeping - Upto 01 km/hr.<br />
(d) Max mass of the system - 1400 kgs.<br />

(ii) Max lateral roll (deg) - 15<br />
(iii) Width of ditch - 2 m<br />
(g) The system should incorporate an anti-bottom mine sweeping device<br />
(AMSD).<br />
Operational Characteristics of the Mine Plough (The System)<br />
3. Is the mine ploughs of the tread way blade type, and easy to operate?<br />
4. Can the crew operate the system from inside the tank in close down<br />
position. Should the automatic system fail is there a provision of, the system to be<br />
able to brought into the travelling position and locked by manual means ?<br />
5. What is the device to set and limit the depth of penetration of blades?<br />
6. Is there a provision to put the mine plough in travelling position, so that it<br />
doesn’t foul while tank is mounted / dismounted from tank transporter, flats on<br />
train and bridge laying tank?<br />
7. What is the facility provided that the system does not foul with existing<br />
features of the tank, hinder movement of gun during manual mode or in stabilized<br />
mode (even at maximum depression) and in no way jeopardize combat<br />
effectiveness of the tank?
8. Is there a requirement of cutting of armour to facilitate modification for<br />
fitment of these mine ploughs. If yes, will the cutting of armour compromising<br />
overpressure system and the NBC protection system of the tank?<br />
9. What is the modification required for fitment of system on the tank. After<br />
the initial fitting, the system will the crew be able to mount and dismount the<br />
system on the tank within 20 minutes with the help of tools provided for the same?<br />
10. What is temperature range in which the system is capable of operating?<br />
11. In how many operating positions can the mine ploughs operate?<br />
12. Can the mine plough operate in desert, semi desert, hard ground and<br />
undulating ground?<br />
13. In case of failure of the mechanical/electrical systems, can the mine plough<br />
still be operated through manual or any other means ?<br />

14. What is the total cost of the system as a whole including all accessories and<br />
the life cycle cost of the eqpt?<br />
15. Is there a requirement of imparting specialized training to the crew, if yes,<br />
the duration and the cost of the same?<br />
Misc<br />
16. What is the level of modification required? Can the modification be carried<br />
out at field workshop level for fitment of mine ploughs on tanks?<br />
17. What is the time required (manpower hours) to carry out modification on one<br />
tank?<br />
18. Are all the system fitted in mine ploughs easy to replace/repair at field<br />
workshop level?<br />
19. What are the additional features that can be included with the equipment?<br />
20. What are the preparations required for the tank to be in functional mode<br />
when dismounted from the veh?<br />
21. What are the technical and users manuals being provided?<br />
