SAFETY AND RECREATIONAL REPORT
Bob Toborg 218-963-3542 togo@uslink.net • John Taylor 218-963-2229 taylorjc@uslink.net - Co-Chairpersons
In a few short weeks we will again be installing the buoys. This year may be a little different. We will be
working on a budget with a reduction to spending just what is donated by you to the buoys. The funds
set aside from the general fund will be spent on the video monitoring camera at the three public landings.
An article on this is in the newsletter. So when you send in your contributions, send in some for
the buoys and some for the video project.
As in the past we are coordinating with the Crow Wing Sheriffs office and sponsoring two water safety
classes. They will be held on June 9 th and June 30 th . More information is available in a separate article
in this newsletter.
The DNR enforcement will again have a boat patrolling the Chain this summer. If you see a boat noise
violation, a fishing violation, an unsafe boating activity or anything else that falls under the DNR
Enforcement canopy you can call #tip (#847) from any major cell phone and get the DNR Tip hotline. I
spoke with one of our area DNR Enforcement officers and they are notified immediately on these calls.
You can also call the Sheriff for help.
As in past summers I would appreciate all of you calling either Bob or I (contacts at top this article) about
any buoys that wander, need repair, or just general questions, suggestions, or comments about the buoy
system. Please remember that the buoys’ placement is dictated by The Crow Wing and Cass County
water patrols, and we have no control over those decisions. Please call the sheriff’s office from the county
in the area about which you have questions. The Crow Wing Sheriff’s number is: 218-829-4749 and
Cass County Sheriff is: 218-547-1424. Let’s have a safe and enjoyable summer.
