- Basic information<br />

The REISSMANN <strong>Sensortechnik</strong> heater bands were<br />

specifically designed for the electric motor industry.<br />

These heater bands are delivered as a finished product,<br />

in various combinations, of length and power output.<br />

- Application<br />

The heater bands prevent condensation in electric<br />

motors and also protect against frost damage. If<br />

condensation occurs inside the motor, creepage<br />

currents and short circuits may occur.<br />

- Advantages<br />

• exclusive usage of silicone-free material<br />

• prevention of „outgassing of silicone“<br />

• protection of people and equipment, from dangerous<br />

gases<br />

• very flexible design facilitates the matching of product<br />

to application<br />

- Construction<br />

The carrier material consists of a glass yarn and a<br />

resistance wire that is wound round the glass yarn.<br />

Afterwards the glass yarn is insulated by Teflon (Fig. 2).<br />

The junction between the lead-in and the resistance<br />

wire are insulated on both sides with shrink tubes. For<br />

protection against damage, from external sources, the<br />

entire heater band system is sewn into a fiberglass hose<br />

or sleeve (Fig. 1 and 3). The sewing in of the lead-in, at<br />

the end of the fiberglass hose, gives additional strain<br />

relief at the junction between the Teflon insulated<br />

resistance winding and the lead-in.<br />
