The Johnston Blaze Swim Club engages in a multi-level competition program with United States Swimming that, like our training program, attempts to provide challenging, yet success-oriented competitive situations for swimmers of all ages and abilities. Anyone can become a member of the Blaze Team if they have achieved level three of American Red Cross swim instruction and can swim 25 yards unassisted. Blaze Intro to Competitive Swimming Class This class will give your potential swimmer a chance to “test the waters,” before joining the Blaze swim club. Your swimmer will attend a series of practices. They will learn the four competitive strokes, starts, turns, and rules of the sport. If the class is full please put your name on the waiting list. The form must be signed by a physician, physician assistant, nurse or certified medical assistant. This form is available on our district Web site (click on Health Services then Health Forms) or call 278- 0552 to request this form. Fall 2012 Registration Watch the district Web site for details about preschool registration for fall 2012. We are tentatively planning to begin registration in January of 2012. Project Ready for School Scholarships Available Project Ready for School is a scholarship program for preschoolers and their families provided through Early Childhood Iowa. Families must live in the Johnston Community School District and qualify according to income guidelines. Children (three- and four-years-old by September 15, 2011) can attend a quality preschool of your choice. Applications are on the district Web site or call 278-0552 for more information.
