The Valley Star | feature Warm weather and fishermen on the lake by Danny Johnson ith the mid-March air temperatures reaching the low 0’s, local fishermen have usted off the boat, aired up the trailer tires, and are heading to the lake. This is a magical time of year for sportsmen who enjoy the outdoors. The trees are blooming and the birds singing, and yes, the fish are biting. The bass and crappie fishing have been accelerated by the abnormal warm weather. The catfish and stripe are also in high gear. When the lake water temperature reaches the mid 60’s, it triggers the fish’s spawn nature, and they head for Jim McKinley with a nice catfish and friend Tony Andrews enjoying a day of fishing shallow water. Smallmouth bass, I am told, will drop their eggs in high 50-degree water. The next few weeks will be a great time to spend fishing with family and friends. Starting the last week in March there is an open team Bass tournament about every week until May out of Ingalls Harbor Decatur, Alabama. I hope to see you on the water soon. I may be hard to find the next few weeks. The ‘honey do’ list will have to wait. Page 10 the valley star March 22, 2012

Woodroof, an Athens attorney, is the new Limestone County Probate udge-elect, while Curnutt won the epublican nomination for Limetone County Circuit Court Clerk. urnutt, a county investigator, aces Democratic opponent Chris llen on Nov. 6th. oodroof will take office after the ov. 6th General Election.
