Community
College...
is the center of educational opportunity in
Delaware and Chester Counties. Students find
success through associate degree and certificate
programs, a clear-cut course to a bachelor's degree,
career advancement opportunities or personal fulfillment.
With locations throughout Delaware and Chester Counties,
the College serves more than 28,000 students annually.
Delaware County Community College Educational
Foundation's primary mission is to support students.
The Foundation's commitment to student success is
evident from the many scholarships and awards described
in these pages. Eligibility criteria are established by the
donors themselves. While academic merit and financial
need are the most common criteria, other factors frequently
considered are academic major, geographical location or
special circumstances, such as “mature women” or
“part-time students.” All students are encouraged to
review eligibility requirements and to apply as directed.
The Foundation also provides awards for faculty, alumni,
students and staff members based on teaching performance,
professional accomplishments, academic achievements
and other measures.
Dollars for Scholars
The Foundation’s annual dinner brings students and scholarships
donors together each fall to celebrate the generosity of the donors
and the accomplishments of the students. Kristen Hagopian,
Radio Talk Show Host, Columnist and Wealth Building Speaker
and author of Brilliant Frugal Living, delivered the keynote
address. Touting the financial benefits of a community college
education, Hagopian assured the students in the audience that
they had made a good decision in selecting Delaware County
Community College for their education. She applauded donors
for their wise investments in the students and the College.
Three students spoke on behalf of the scholarship
winners. Elisa Ford, recipient of the Wong Moss
Scholarship, praised the College for taking a personal
interest in the students. She said, “At Delaware
County Community College you are not just a
number, you are a person.” James Bradley and
Rachel Osayande also shared personal stories
about their academic journeys.
