Here we are, half way
through the year. Our
Spring Conference has
taken place and it was definitely
the biggest and best educational
conference that REOMAC® has
ever presented. Thank you
to Cynthia Nierer who put
together the most compressive
educational sessions that I have
ever attended. Our conference
chair, Diana Kendall did an
incredible job in putting the
conference together. And
of course, our management
company, led by Jennifer
Blevins and Joseph Davis,
made sure that everything ran
smoothly and with their staff,
assisted all attendees in all
situations. There has been so
much said and printed about
the conference, that I would
like to offer my overview.
REOMAC® moved the
conference to the Marriott
Desert Springs hotel in order
to safely and comfortably
conduct our sessions in a
place large enough to hold the
amount of people attending
this conference. The hotel
staff expressed their thanks
to the REOMAC® conference
attendees for their kindness
and professionalism at the
hotel. Every staff member was
impressed by how nice they
were treated by our group and
are looking forward to the 2010
Spring Conference.
The pre-conference certification
classes were attended by over
900 people. We hope to offer
these types of certification
courses on an ongoing basis.
During the opening ceremonies,
No Paws Left Behind was
presented a check for $5,000
to assist them in their fight
to aid the animals left behind
in vacant homes and those
needing placement in a home
when the owners cannot take
them when they move out of
the property. Cheryl Lang of No
Paws Left Behind let me know
that they raised over $10,000,
due to the generosity of our
attendees. Good job everyone.
We can each make a difference
in this great endeavor.
Our keynote speaker,
Christopher Gardner is an
outstanding, inspirational
s p e a ker. H i s s t or y of
homelessness, and his desire
to be the best father that he
could be, reached out and
affected all of us. Each of us,
in our own way, could relate
to his story and appreciate the
desire and drive to be the best
that one could be, even in the
worst situation. REOMAC®
was proud to present his
story to the attendees and
hoped everyone learned a
lesson about perseverance and
determination, and doing the
right thing.
As always, Dr. Christopher
Thornberg presented a
comprehensive analysis of
the economy and the housing
market, capturing the attention
of every single person attending
that session. Our Town
hall session was incredibly
stimulating with the panelists
entering into heated debate
on the state of the housing
crisis. John Vella moderated
the interactive debate with
Dr. Thornberg, Peter Monroe,
California State Senator Ronald
S. Calderon and Rocky Rushing,
Chief of Staff for Senator
Calderon. Our closing session
of the day discussed doing
business with the companies
that will be handling REO
products for the FDIC.
Tuesday’s sessions were also
engrossing and timely and filled
with information presented by
the best and brightest people
in the default industry. The
finale of the afternoon was
the opportunity to hear from
the lenders/outsourcers that
are responsible for selling the
nations REO’s.
The REOMAC® Board of
Directors, along with our
Management Company, and
all of our committee members,
worked endless long hours to
ensure that this conference
