Bank Deposit Program
The Society also makes direct deposits in minority-controlled banks through the Bank Deposit
Program, which consists of $3.0 million designated for placement by the Treasurer’s Office in
certificates of deposit (CDs) of $100,000 each. Maturities are short (12 months or less). The list of
participating banks is revised as necessary in response to changes in Community Reinvestment Act
ratings, ownership and/or the business orientation of the institutions, imbalances of the ethnic
distribution of the banks in the portfolio and the Society’s commitment to place funds in troubled
areas.
