Enel staff spent a month testing a Unimog U 20 under extremely tough conditions – and they were delighted with the results.
The Italian power company has now ordered 50 of the all-purpose units.
STAFF FROM Enel, Italy’s largest power company,
spent a month subjecting a Unimog U 20
to some thorough testing. The prototype had to
withstand some tough challenges on a daily
basis, over rough terrain, on unsurfaced roads,
up and down hill, on motorways, around narrow
urban streets and through thick forest.
Enel was looking to make absolute sure that
by choosing the U 20 it was acquiring a robust,
efficient and above all safe all-rounder. After
four weeks of continuous and tough trials, the
Enel, Italy’s largest power company, needs reliable
service vehicles. Its staff tested the U 20 for

“Happily, the testers were very pleased with
the U 20,” reports Guido Corradi, head of the
Special-Purpose Vehicles and Engineering
departments of Mercedes-Benz Italy and the
