third weekend in June. Celebrating arts in Canmore;<br />

artSong, Street Performer‟s Festival, Hanging <strong>Art</strong>,<br />
artLens, photography contest, artZone workshops <strong>and</strong><br />

Festival held Saturday of the May long weekend. Music,<br />
puppetry, magic, juggling, face painting, fun, storytelling,<br />
crafts, workshops, laughter, dancing, clowning around,<br />
singing <strong>and</strong> imagination, all at the Kid´s Fest in May. For<br />

Alberta´s longest-running folk festival celebrated each year<br />
on the August Heritage Day long week end. A special<br />
family area for children of all ages includes a petting zoo, a<br />
7m climbing wall, <strong>and</strong> a craft tent. Food & <strong>Art</strong>isan fair ,<br />
Friday evening free street dance, a Saturday afternoon<br />
free Kids Concert <strong>and</strong> Monday morning free pancake<br />
breakfast. Volunteers are always needed!<br />
The biggest Celtic culture experience in Western<br />
Canada takes place Canmore on Sunday, Labour Day<br />
weekend. Competitions by highl<strong>and</strong> dancers, pipers,<br />
drummers, heavy sportsmen, sheep dog demos; Celtic<br />
vendors <strong>and</strong> Clan tents. Beer Garden <strong>and</strong> Evening<br />
Ceilidh feature non-stop entertainment in heated tent.<br />
Tickets, food <strong>and</strong> drink (haggis! fish <strong>and</strong> chips!)<br />
available on-site. Rain or shine.<br />
The annual celebration of the spirit <strong>and</strong> presence of the<br />
golden eagle <strong>and</strong> its autumn migration over Canmore, held<br />
in October. A weekend of Eagle Celebrations including<br />
guided hikes, bird walks, interpretive displays, theatrical<br />
performances <strong>and</strong> guest speakers. Spotting scopes are<br />
set up at the High School, <strong>and</strong> Colin Weir brings his<br />
Alberta Birds of Prey Exhibit. Among the live birds on<br />
display will be a golden eagle.<br />

The Canmore coal mines closed on Friday, July 13 th ,<br />
1979, <strong>and</strong> in celebration <strong>and</strong> recognition of the miners <strong>and</strong><br />
their families, Miners‟ Day occurs on the closest Saturday<br />
to July 13 each year. A parade starts at noon at the<br />
NWMP Barracks, followed by a free barbecue lunch in<br />
front of the museum.<br />

The Alpine Club of Canada's Mountain Culture<br />
Committee aims to celebrate the Club's relevance to<br />
Canadian culture through the presentation of<br />

Messiah, Mozart´s Great Mass in C Minor, John Rutter´s<br />
Requiem. Fundraising concerts every spring <strong>and</strong> fall.<br />
Non-profit, volunteer-run, registered Society that<br />
provides a voice for the arts in Canmore <strong>and</strong> the Bow<br />
Valley. Objectives include: to celebrate <strong>and</strong> raise the<br />
profile of the arts, create opportunities for the arts,<br />
artists, audiences & participants, represent the diverse<br />
interests <strong>and</strong> needs of a vibrant arts community, <strong>and</strong><br />
provide a focus for policies <strong>and</strong> issues affecting the<br />
cultural sector.<br />
CAAG´s m<strong>and</strong>ate is to stimulate activities in all creative<br />
visual arts <strong>and</strong> provide the vehicle to make the artist <strong>and</strong><br />
artisan visible in the community, to encourage <strong>and</strong><br />
promote professional exhibitions, amateur shows, <strong>and</strong> to<br />
create workshops to heighten the awareness of the<br />
creative visual arts. The gallery is located in the Canmore<br />
Public Library building.<br />
Seniors‟ Association offering a variety of activities <strong>and</strong><br />
resources for seniors, including the "Songsters" seniors<br />
choir, card games, socials, teas, exercise classes, various<br />
sports.<br />
Academics <strong>and</strong> authors present deeper insights into<br />
popular reading. Events are open to public; contact to be<br />
added to mailing list for a list of books/presenters.<br />
M<strong>and</strong>ate: To provide opportunities for community<br />
service through guild activities by members who meet<br />
<strong>and</strong> share their love of quilting; to teach <strong>and</strong> promote<br />
