FOUNDATION PROGRAMME<br />
To study for a third-level course at an English-speaking university or college, you<br />
need to prepare for academic life and meet the requirements for entry to<br />
undergraduate or postgraduate courses.<br />
The Foundation Programme provides comprehensive and stimulating English<br />
language training and develops the skills which enable you to successfully<br />
complete third-level studies. Our counsellors advise you on your academic<br />
needs, suitable degree courses and help you with the application and<br />
interview process. During the foundation programme, you can take the<br />
internationally recognised IELTS examination required to gain entry to the<br />
third-level course of your choice.<br />
Cork Language Centre International cooperates with many third-level<br />
institutions including University College Cork, Cork Institute of<br />
Technology and Waterford Institute of Technology.<br />
At the end of the course, you have a high level of communication<br />
skills and cultural knowledge, which allows you to integrate fully into<br />
college life. The friendships you make and the cultural experiences<br />
you enjoy are an integral part of the programme.<br />
26 tuition hours per week<br />
Course timetable: Monday to Friday 09.00 - 12.55hrs<br />
+ Tuesday to Thursday 14.10 - 16.00hrs<br />
Group size: average 8 - 10 students (maximum 12)<br />

Course length: six or nine months<br />
The three-term programme offers you a choice of entry dates in<br />
terms one and two (September and January) based on your level<br />
of English.<br />

The programme:<br />
• provides you with an expert counsellor in order to prepare a<br />
study plan based on your learning objectives<br />
• focuses on improving your language skills to enable you to<br />
study at a university through the medium of English<br />
• develops the study skills necessary for third-level education<br />
• offers a choice of business studies or computer studies in<br />
the afternoon<br />
• facilitates observations of the third-level course of your<br />
choice<br />
