Our experience is the key to your success THE COMPLETE LEARNING EXPERIENCE Academic Team Our teachers are selected for their high level of qualifications, experience and motivation. They are university graduates who are qualified to teach English as a Foreign Language. They have the experience and expertise needed to ensure that courses are productive and tailored to your individual needs, your interests and your objectives. The quality of the teaching team is maintained through ongoing professional development under the guidance of our dedicated academic management team. We organise regular in-house training workshops and provide financial support for teachers to pursue external training courses. First Day of your Course On the first morning, your level and needs are extensively assessed. The different components of the test allow us to establish your current level of English. After your test, our orientation and introduction session gives you practical advice on studying with us and living in Cork. The session provides you with the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about your stay. We also inform you about our exciting social and cultural programme and encourage you to participate in order to maximise your learning experience. The Cork Language Centre International information guide helps you to make the most of your stay. After the orientation session, you are informed of your level and join an appropriate class with students of similar English language ability. On Monday afternoon, there is a walking tour of Cork to familiarise you with your new surroundings. Language Counselling You receive invaluable guidance on learning and communication skills during your language counselling sessions. You can ask for advice on overall language development and request extra work in any area of language. Your counsellor provides advice on independent learning techniques and can help you to select a suitable examination. Certificate of Achievement On completing a course, you receive a Cork Language Centre International certificate which states the level you have achieved and the length of your course. 5

You can understand virtually everything heard or read. • Cambridge C.P.E. • IELTS 7.5 – 9.0 • TOEFL 620 : 260 Advanced = C1 You can express yourself spontaneously and fluently. You can understand a wide range of language. Approx 12 weeks • Cambridge C.A.E. • IELTS 6.5 – 7.5 • TOEFL 570 : 230 Upper Intermediate = B2 You can express views on a wide range of topics. You can understand the main ideas when listening or reading. • Cambridge F.C.E. • IELTS 5.0 – 6.5 • TOEFL 510 : 180 Approx 10-12 weeks Intermediate = B1.1 You can deal with most situations while travelling in an area where English is spoken. Approx 8-10 weeks • IELTS 4.0 – 5.0 • TOEFL 470 : 150 Pre-Intermediate = B1 You can produce simple connected text on topics which are familiar. You can understand the main points when reading and listening. Approx 8-10 weeks • IELTS 3.0 – 4.0 • TOEFL 433 : 120 Elementary = A2 You can communicate in basic terms who you are, what you are doing and what you need. • IELTS 2.0 – 3.0 Approx 6-8 weeks Beginner = A1 You can use everyday expressions and interact in a basic way, if the other person talks slowly.
