ENABLING TECHNOLOGIES
Reliable intruder detections are disseminated by
Harris wideband radio technology
Intruder detection starts with Harris’s capabilities in unmanned
sensor technology for early entry forces, providing sensorcued
video in a small, easily deployed system. For sustained
surveillance, radar provides detection over wide-area coverage
augmented by slew-to-cue video for target recognition. The
detection and recognition data is shared by the security patrols
and command center over the wideband data links of the Harris
Tactical Video Gateway and Multiband Networking Radios.
Tactical Video Gateway
The Harris RF-7400E-VG Tactical Video Gateway (TVG) allows the
user to deploy a variety of cameras based on specialized mission
needs. These cameras will then be controlled by the video gateway
to respond to sensor target detections or operator commands.
The TVG performs video encoding and streams the resulting video
back to the command center in real time.
Dual EO/IR Pan/Tilt/Zoom Camera System
As shown on the opposite page, the standard camera system
includes mid-range, dual day and IR cameras that provide
reconnaissance capability 24 hours a day, even under harsh
environmental conditions. In addition to programmable scan
patterns, the cameras also can be programmed to automatically
respond to sensor alerts. This provides a virtual sentry so that
intrusions can be investigated before committing security force
personnel. The camera system can be customized to provide
additional capabilities including:
l Longer-range cameras
l Laser rangefinders and illuminators
l Image-intensified cameras
Ground Surveillance Radar
A ground surveillance radar system is ideal for providing
surveillance coverage for the large, open areas typically associated
with airfields. The use of radar augmented with unattended
ground sensors to cover areas obstructed from the radar
provides the best balance of probability of detection and cost.
Available with a variety of human detection ranges from 1.5 to
15 kilometers (5 km for the base system), the AIMS Fast-Scan
radar operates well over land and water and comes with a
protective radome, enabling it to be deployed in a wide variety of
environments from seaside to desert airfields.
Multiband Networking Radio
The RF-7800M Multiband Networking Radio is used at the
command center and in the security force vehicles. The RF-7800M
allows the command center to share live video and sensor
information with deployed security force teams across a secure,
mobile, ad hoc tactical wireless network. This common situational
awareness increases the effectiveness and safety of the security
force personnel. The networking of security force vehicles allows
them to coordinate their tactics as they respond to base incursions.
