Smooth Scaling
Ahead with Oraqix ®
& Cavitron
Raising the Clinical Standard

Oraqix ® & Cavitron : The Two-Step System: A Winning Combination
Needle-free
Anaesthesia
Why do so many clinicians rely on the needle-free anaesthetic gel Oraqix ® (25/25mg per g periodontal gel
lidocaine and prilocaine) for ultrasonic scaling and/or root planing? Because it works…easily and efficiently.
By putting a patient’s apprehension to rest, while providing effective pain relief, Oraqix ® makes the scaling
procedure more comfortable and less stressful for your patients.
• In clinical studies, 70% of patients preferred Oraqix ® vs. an injectable. *
• 10% of patients put off seeking treatment when injectable anaesthesia is required. **
• 45% of patients stated that they would be more likely to return if Oraqix ® was offered. *
Easing your patient’s concerns when visiting for scaling procedures with Oraqix ® can enable greater
compliance and enhance your ability to implement full-mouth scaling. This can make the procedure,
and the entire appointment, more tolerable, and improve your potential for recall visits.
When you think scaling and root planing, think Oraqix ® . It’s the simple way to achieve superior
comfort for improved clinical results.
• Indicated for adults who require localised anaesthesia in periodontal pockets during
scaling and/or root planing.
• Do not inject.
• Quick 30 second onset, 20 minute duration.
• Oraqix ® is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to amide-type local anaesthetics
or any other product component.
What do Oraqix ® users have to say?
‘When you are in private practice you cannot afford to
have patients being uncomfortable with their treatment.
The help that Oraqix ® gives, makes the patients and
my hygienists happy. It also generates income for the
practice, a true win-win-win!’
Dr L Lando, Private Dental Practitioner, Surrey
‘Our patients no longer hesitate about making
appointments and we have fewer cancellations.
We’re seeing the business benefits already.’
Jane Smith, Practice Manager, Birmingham
‘Patients come back for an SRP and ask specifically for
Oraqix ® - we don’t have to sell it to them…they just
buy it!’
Alex Robinson, Hygienist, Edinburgh
What do Oraqix ® patients have to say?
‘I told my friends I enjoy visiting my dentist because it
doesn’t hurt at all. Now they all go to the same practice
as me!’
Chris, Nottingham
‘I love the new anaesthetic and I’m happy to pay a little
more for it. No needle. No pain. It’s brilliant!’
Jenny, London
‘I always dreaded having my teeth scaled. It was agony.
Now I don’t mind one bit.’
Clinical studies show that Oraqix ® is effective in providing pain relief during SRP procedures.
Apply Oraqix® on the gingival
margin around the selected
tooth using the blunt-tipped
applicator.
Wait 30 seconds then fill Oraqix®
into the periodontal pocket until it
becomes visible at the gingival
margin. Wait another 30 seconds
before starting treatment. Longer
waiting time does not enhance
the anaesthetic effect.
The scaling and/or root planing
procedure may begin 30 seconds
after application of Oraqix®.
Anaesthetic effect, as assessed by
probing of pocket depths, has a
duration of approximately 20
minutes (individual overall range
14 -31 minutes).
Unique Oraqix Dispenser
• The Oraqix Dispenser is indicated for the administration of Oraqix ® .
• The Dispenser is contraindicated for use with all injectable, local anaesthetic products.
• Easy loading Oraqix Dispenser provides efficient gel delivery into the periodontal pocket.
• Increased access for hard-to-reach areas.
- Tip rotates 360˚ providing flexibility for hard-to-reach areas.
- Using the double bend technique improves access to periodontal pockets.
Double Bend Technique:
Bend canula twice for increased accessibility if needed
• Disinfection & Sterilisation.
- The Oraqix Dispenser can be steam autoclaved after use.
- It is required to allow the Dispenser to cool to room temperature after autoclaving the device.
