Coblentz, far<strong>the</strong>r south, was in <strong>the</strong> American area and,<br />

although many of <strong>the</strong> fellows went down <strong>the</strong>re, <strong>the</strong>y never<br />

enthused over its <strong>at</strong>tractions.<br />

We Celebr<strong>at</strong>e Our Fourth Christmas ^<br />

On Christmas Day <strong>the</strong> men had <strong>the</strong>ir best dinner since 1914.<br />

In <strong>the</strong> evening we had <strong>the</strong> Y-Emma Concert Party to amuse us<br />

and we entertained <strong>the</strong>m so well <strong>the</strong>y had to be carried back to<br />

Bonn in our motor ambulances. P<strong>at</strong> Rafferty s song &quot;Apple<br />

Dumplings&quot; was <strong>the</strong> hit of <strong>the</strong> evening. For once our men had<br />

more than <strong>the</strong>y could e<strong>at</strong>, and more rum sauce than plum pudding.<br />

As <strong>at</strong> every Christmas dinner, <strong>the</strong> non<strong>com</strong>s. waited on <strong>the</strong> men s<br />

tables and had <strong>the</strong>ir own dinners afterward. The Sergeants<br />
